2012's Defensive transition vs 2013's

I have a lot more faith that Ryan's transition to a new defensive scheme this year will be a lot less difficult than what Spags tried in 2012, and it has very little to do with coaching ability.

There are similarities:
New coach
New Scheme
Fans worried to tears.

There are a few important differences also:
Spag's came in and took the 4-3 and said, "we will change the way we do the 4-3".. humans do not like to be told how to do something they do.. differently. Ryan is coming in and saying "we are going to change nearly everything". Personnel will be moved to different positions, not just being told to play the same position a different way.

It is also a lot easier to make a whole sale major change when there is an influx of new people. The rookies and freeagents are expecting to walk in to camp and learn a new way of doing things, they will have an open mind and a positive attitude. That is easier than taking a 95% original cast and trying to force change... We also have improved at a few positions...

There is also the lack of a crippling distraction in the 2013 season that was present in 2012. The uncertainty is gone, the weekly media generated drama and turmoil is gone. Players can focus.

Another important factor is that Sean Payton is there to watch over it. He has admitted that he didn't know Ryan well so he will be watching him closely... Sean Payton also has to live with never wanting to repeat what happened in 2012, he brought a coach in and it flopped.. A record historic flop.

So here is looking forward to a newly (new for us) constructed and revitalized 2013 Saints Defense

That happens when you don't have something to prove. Many layers of our organization have something to prove this season.

Defense needs to prove they are not the leagues worst.

Rob Ryan needs to prove his problem in Dallas was Jerry and not Rob.

Payton needs to prove he is not going to have Loomis bring in two DC plugs in a row.

Loomis needs to prove that his faith in Sean Payton is justified.

Benson needs another reason to open his umbrella indoors.

Yea Ryan's D is very similar to Williams's D
They're both aggressive, brilliant in blitz scheming and disguising their schemes they both are player's coaches, they both utilize a 3-4 although GW's was based or disguised as a 4-3, they both have a fiery and sparky attitude who get the very most out of their players and absolutely just make some stars that couldn't be without them and even able to manipulate a system to make it work even if they are as bad as.Harper I mean heck he's such a stiff they used a will OLB in coverage instead of him but his tackling prowess allowed him to make it in the GW's system but now he misses too many and just has just became way to slow and way to stiff!
