10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

1. Mentor to Newly Drafted Saints Safety Vaccarro

2. Has picked off Every current Superbowl winning QB except his own

3. Identical playing style to Darren Sharper

4. Opposing Teams QBr drops dramatically When facing Woodson

5. Plays beautiful in run support

6. Swagger

7. Cheap

8. Proven Veteran & leader

9. He is not Tim Tebow lol seriously though

10. He is a nightmare for NFC QBs ( Picked off Cam Newton twice , crushed the failcants , drew has had issues getting the ball over his head

Is he wanting a lot of money?

Reason number eleven........He would look good in real black and gold.

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

The roster spot he would take up could be better utilized on one of our UDFA's...

I'd hate to see him signed and we don't have the space for a Reddick, Thomas, or Alston...

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

Who cares about a UDFA? Woodson is actually proven and can help us win now. Most of our UDFA's won't even be remembered by August.

I don't know about that. We have a pretty good crop this year.

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

Chase Thomas, Kevin Reddick, Shawne Alston = UDFA's I'd rather have then the 36 yo Charles Woodson...

All projected mid-round picks that fell for some reason or other...

Hell; I'd rather see Rod Sweeting DB out of Georgia Tech make the team before we over-pay for Charles Woodson...

I doubt any of them see the field other then special teams.

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

I'm willing to bet it all that Woodson at this age is still better then any of the UDFA we have.

Woodson would be nice, but the man is gonna want to be paid. I'm not going to compare him to Sharper. Sharper was a Saint his whole career, he just didn't know it till the last couple seasons.

I think he's about to get desperate.

As also a Vikes' fan I take offense to that! ;-)

Some of you should realize that a whole lot of names will not be on the 53.

See where the cap hit gets gray'd out in the right hand column? Look two down, everything under Corey White is beyond 53.

See that remaining cap # on the bottom? That is without Romeus or White.

We have 1M in cap space with no practice squad....

Pass on Woodson - Hell, I'd rather have Roman Harper...

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

#12. Because he played for a great university in college and is the only defensive player to ever win the Heisman.

Seriously though, still has a few miles left on him & would be a great addition to any team that could afford him or convince him to play for less.

If they could sign him and him not go to the 49ers that would help a lot.....

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

I prefer Brees and company whipping Woodson's arse on the field no matter for whom he's playing...

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

Sharper was mostly consistent throughout his career in the INT dept. Woodson on the other hand had a long dry spell. Not a big deal, only one catergory but I see why they Saints signed Sharper. Dude was money even in his old age. Not sure if you get that from Woodson but who knows..if we had the funds I'm fine with it. His experience makes up for whatever he has lost. I don't see him getting flat out beat in other words.

Re: 10 Reasons Charles Woodson should be a Saint

He's good for 5 picks and 70+ tackles when healthy. He had 7 picks the year before last.

If the cap space was there it would be a good move but its not and would probably be best kept for emergencies anyway.

Exactly. We just need to change these threads to "Look, another decent player we can't afford, not even on the cheap."

NFLN gurus talked about this the other day. IIRC they (Tim Ryan and his sidekick) said he's strictly an inside the box safety who struggles in coverage. They said he's basically an extra LB.

Agreed, and we already have one of those.

I would take him anyday of the week one of the youngsters would just have to go on the practice squad.

Well I guess we do need a back-up for Roman Harper.

Yep, it could be his best option with a lot of pieces already in place.
