Lance Moore's Mom says he's 'Underrated'

1 Attachment(s)
I wanted to share this message I received from Lance Moore's mother who is a registered member here at BlackandGold.com. Thought everyone would enjoy reading this.

Quote:

Hi, RSII-

I've loved me some Lance Moore his whole life! It makes a mother proud that people finally know what I've known Lance's whole life -- that he is and always has been underrated. People assume because he's not the tallest guy on the field that he can't possibly be any good. They've obviously never seen the 41" vertical jump in person. Defenses everywhere have underestimated him forever. Not everybody has, though. One local news reporter in high school said the only way to guard Lance is to lock him on the team bus. I agree!

My favorite thing about Lance is that he's the same sweet, caring person now as he was when he was a little boy. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lance has been making those acrobatic catches his whole career. At Toledo, Lance caught the game-winning TD, against a #9 rated Pitt, with 43 seconds in the game. It's known as "The Catch" at Toledo. For a lot of years after that, Larry Fitzgerald wouldn't shake Lance's hand because, as Larry put it, Lance ruined his season. Ha!

Anyway... I just wanted to say thanks for being a fan. It makes me happy when you good people appreciate Lance and his talent. I don't care what happens from here on out in Lance's career, because New Orleans will always be MY team. I live in Browns/Bengals territory and so it's great to have an awesome team to root for. (If anyone ever wonders why the Browns have sucked the last 7-8 years... It's because of me. They cut Lance on the last day of camp -- on his birthday, no less -- and so since then the hex has been on. I suppose I should get over it because they did Lance a huge favor. He would have never played for New Orleans, Sean, and with Drew, but still. A mother never forgets when her child is heartbroken. So the hex is still on!)

If you're interested, check out the BC Lions in the CFL and #17. Nick's a 6'2" version of Lance. He holds the receiving record in the Big House from when Toledo beat Michigan in 2008. Nick had 20 catches!

Have a wonderful weekend.
Debbie Moore

Welcome to B&G Mrs. Moore!

We wish more mothers would visit.. Mothers provide insight that Scouts just can not discover watching tape.

Feel free to give "that look" to any members that need it. I still get "that look" from my mother and I am 42 :-).

No wonder Lance is a standout player and an individual of impeccable character. His mom sounds like a loving and devoted parent. She has reared an outstanding young man and that's even more important than being an outstanding athlete. Although, the fact that the Saints have benefitted from his athleticism is pretty great, too!

Love the guy and I agree he's a bit under-rated, but he disappears at times.

I think he's one of those cat-quick match-up guys. If he up against one of those taller CB's who can't cut on a dime, he has the advantage. Up against a CB who can also cut on a dime, maybe not so much.

But I'm nitpicking.

LOL @ cut by Cleveland.......Mom, that was divine intervention....you should be thanking Cleveland every day for that haha. And cut on his birthday? Yeah, that was a birthday present !

The story kinda reminded me of one of our former punters...Klaus Wilsmyer. His career began by getting drafted in the 12th round by Tampa bay in 1992 (the early 90s Bucs were terrible), and got waived by them. Got picked up by San Fran that same season....and got to play in 3 straight NFC title games, which culminated with a Super Bowl victory in that 3rd season.

My favorite Saint by far

Won me over with that 2 point conversion in the SB, hence the avatar. To me that was the epitome of 110% I-will-not-be-denied type moments that make sports so fun to watch

Don't totally agree with u danno but lance dropping more than his fair share of passes is what keeps him from getting the big time attention he really deserves. He just sometimes loses his concentration on the easiest catches then makes these all world acrobatic imposible throws to him. But i see your point. Miss debbie is a class act person for raising an awesome football player and person.. And your right i'm kissing but.:google::

+1. I know I'm a LM homer but this guy seems to always know how to make a clutch catch or keep the chains moving. Although we struggled at times on offense, he definitely didn't have the UHaul packed in 2012.

Give em hell Lance!

Every WR at some point drops passes they should have caught, lance has got a much better track record of not dropping passes than a lot of our WR's

Namely jimmy graham

I not saying anything about rankings or stats. Its just the drops when they count. Droped balls on a game winning. Or the very least is a 3rd and 5 or 6 and need that first down or its over and it touched ur hands or you caught a million like it and did't game over or drive killer momentum shift. Just plain cridical drop. Could be the reason lance don't get the espn headliner if thats whats the thread is all about. Look i love me some lance too. Its just not lance also. Grahm. Colston. Just because they keep colston out of the Pro bowl don't mean hes not an elite reciever to me.

The only drop that Lance made that will stick with me is the one that ended Drew's TD streak and it was against the clowns of all teams. His best catch to me is the one in the endzone against the Ravens a few years ago. That showed some serious eye hand coordination there.

Very classy lady. Loomis frequently speaks about the Saints selecting athletes with character. Well, in Lance's case we now know where it comes from.

I bet that Koby would trade a few of his championship rings to have a mom like Mrs. Moore.

If your going to say Drew doesn't go to him because of drops then that is a stat, and when it comes down to it with the game on the line Lance is my go to guy above the rest.

Lance Moore is the most clutch receiver we have. There is a reason that Drew goes to lance in all of those situations, it isn't because he drops.

lance does not get ESPN headliners for the same reasons the rest of our WR and RBs don't. We spread the ball, and they wear a Saints Jersey.

The way Drew played that game, he deserved to have the TD streak end. Worst game I have seen brees play since the browns game of 2010

WHAT A GREAT LADY! ... and so that's why the Browns suck,. Oh man, get her a Chunky Soup commercial with her boys!

I remember that Toledo victory over University of Michigan where Nick caught 20 passes, ouch! But it was the beginning of the end for H/C Rich Rod, so for that, I'll be eternally grateful,.

Wait, someone in your neighborhood cheers for the Brown? Seriously?
I thought Browns fans went extinct just after the second to last #1 draft pick they wasted on a worthless QB.

Lance Moore's mother sent me this PM in reponse to an article about Lance being an under rated receiver. I have a lot of respect for him and how hard he has worked so I said clearly that "I love me Some Lance Moore." Which I have said often since he came off the practice squad and I'm gonna' say it for a long time.

I was impressed with how well spoken she was and you could feel a mothers love.
She is obviously a classy lady who raised a humble man that had to earn it his whole life by hard work on and off the field.
Ask Coach Payton..........he'll say give it to Lance Moore.:bng:

You do realize the drop happened in the 3rd quarter which would have made the score 17-14 and with the other FG we scored in the 3rd the game would have been tied heading into the 4th. But it's all history now and I do believe Lance is our best receiver, I'm just saying that particular drop stays in my memory. Lance is the best route runner we have.

Moore has the fewest drops of any of our receivers. Not even close.
He makes adjustments on the ball, he can create seperation, he's great after the catch...
He's the best we've got. Colston has more catches/yards but Moore has the beter skill-set.
Payton/Brees wide distribution of the ball will keep most guys from getting the recognition
they might deserve. As long as we keep winning, oh well...

Well, that goes to show how much I know. I thought Lance has been with us from the start. As far as I am still concerned; he has.

I'm glad we have him. And thanks for posting this Rugby. She talks about Lance they way I talk about my oldest daughter. Who by the way just won her 4th MS Class 4A State Championship in fastpitch softball this past weekend!
