There is speculation and rumors tonight that the Saints are in negotiations with the Packers on a deal that will bring cornerback Mike McKenzie here in return for 2nd and 4th round draft picks. The stick at the point is working out a favorable contract with MM. This could be why the Saints made some roster room earlier today by releasing TE Zach Hilton.

Loomis has already said the Packers called twice gauging the Saints interest in him within the past few days. They first made him available with the same offer of a 1st round pick. Loomis said the Saints were still interested and would be willing to give up a 2nd round pick. The Packers called back and aske if the Saints would be willing to part with a 2nd and a mid round pick. Nothing official has been said since.

If a deal does get done you could expect MM to get considerable playing time in nickel but I would not expect him to start this week.

How do I know these things? Just remember, even Loomis and Haslett tell me what is on their wish list.

He\'ll be a nice compliment to Ashley Ambrose on the other side. We can move Fred Thomas to nickel back, put Ambrose on the team\'s #1 receiver, and McKenzie on the other side.

(5 seconds later): sorry guys, had a big swig of that Who-tang. Hit me pretty hard. On the fo-scrilla, I think (hopefully) we\'ve seen the last of Ambrose as a starting corner.

Doesn\'t McKenzie normally play on Fred Thomas\' side of the field? I wouldn\'t be that shocked.

This would be great because Ashley Ambrose has lost several steps. Did anyone noticed how much off the receivers he plays?
