Brian Robiskie released from Lions

Here's a good character player I really liked out of Ohio State. Terry Robiski's son.

6'3" solid player, possibly suffered from poor QB play in Cleveland and Jacksonville. Not sure why he couldn't emerge as the #2 in Detroit in his first year. Clearly a cap move IMO.

Anyone have insight? I'd be inclined to give him a look...

We have enough WR's already on the roster deserving a look... That's my opinion...

Even as a collegiate player, I was never thought he was anything special. That said, if we brought him in for a look see, it wouldn't hurt anything.

If the Saints bring in Brian Robiskie they must have no confidence in the young guys they have because Robiskie has done absolutely nothing in 4 years in the league.

I see your point, but I partially disagree. I think there are often times where a team may see some value in a player and has confidence in it's coaching staff enough to feel like bringing said player in could be a fresh start and different scenario in which the player may have a better chane to fulfill some of his potential. I'm with Papz on this one. While I know that Robiskie has never been anymore than a big target that is usually outclassed in a foot race, it doesn't hurt a thing to bring a guy in for a look during the offseason and training camp, and I don't think it says a thing about our confidence in the other receivers that we already have. Successful teams in this league create competition at every position at this time of the year and going into training camp. Let's not forget that we'll enter camp with nearly 100 guys and cut it down to 53 and a 10 man practice squad. If a guy gets butt-hurt because there are a bunch of guys gunning for their position then someone in the office is doing their job right.

This guy has ability. He's 6-4 and runs well, and he's known as an intelligent player.

Assuming our 6 receivers are right now:

Colston
Moore
Morgan
Toon
Stills
Roby

I say bring him in and see what he's got, because we all know Colston and Moore have had some injuries, Morgan is not the most consistent and Toon/Stills are complete unknowns.

If he can't cut it as Lion after four years, he must suck. With all of the attention Megatron gets, surely another wr can get some healthy servings of football catches. Chalk it up to yet another son of a former NFL player that does not measure up. We will see with our very own wr Toon!

He can't get off the line of scrimmage. Zero speed.

He was only with the Lions for 6 games and a midseason pickup at that.

Other than that his quarterbacks have been Jake Delhomme, Colt McCoy, Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert. So it's possible, just possible, that he maybe hasn't had a fair shake.

We got Mike Bell from a similar circumstance (bounced around a little, had some bad luck) and he was a really good player.
