Optimism

Yea, Today was ugly & worst than last week and as some would say they'd be embarrased to see the Saints in the Playoffs. Well maybe so. But if I remember correctly anything can happen in the playoffs. Remember the Minnesota Vikings team the Saints played in their first playoff game ever? Yea, the team everyone thought the Saints would beat because the Vikings backed in because some other team lost, to let them in. Well they creamed the Saints. So as I say anything is possible. I know the Saints chances are not good to beat the Panthers but neither were the Bengals,Vikings chances of beating the Saints, either. (by the way the Viks beat Miami, another team that had high expectation and may not make the playoffs I bet their fans are hoping for a win next week not a loss because their embarrased.)
I'll take the playoffs anyway they come. It's no lock for the Giants to win next week against the Eagles, the Eagles are still fighting for Home Field advantage depending on what Tampa does Monday night.
P.S. Who Kidnapped the team that was 8-2, Please bring them back...............

Optimism

Optimism is one thing, but reality is another. The reality of the moment is that the SAINTS stunk up the place today.

let me preface this by saying that I was lucky enough to not have watched today\'s game. I was upset about having to miss it, but am now quite pleased that I did not have to witness what, from every account I\'ve heard so far, was a disgrace.

The SAINTS were in the enviable position of having complete control of their destiny early on and having the offensive strength to make anything possible. By mid-season they were already looking ahead to the playoffs and very likely homefield advantage, maybe throughout. They had beaten the very best the league had to offer up against them and had a veritable cakewalk ahead of them in the latter part of the season. All they had to do was want it...

Instead, they squandered everything the fought so hard to achieve in the beginning. They played sloppily against numerous opponents, rising to the occasion to beat a powerhouse like the Bucs for a 2nd time, but playing down to or below the level of its weakest opponents.

The SAINTS have managed to once again let themselves down. But what is even worse is that they have let their fans down, again!

For more years than I care to remember, I along with thousands of other loyal, black and gold through and through fans have supported our team, no matter how poorly they played or whether or not they had a chance in hell of squeaking into the playoffs. And when they finally did make it back in the 80\'s, I was there. And it didn\'t really matter that they lost. They had made it. and with a lot less talent than they have right now on offense.

This was not supposed to be a great year. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year, but to everyone\'s amazement, the SAINTS came out of the gate like a team on a mission. They were ready for all takers and made the league\'s dynasties fall. They were the team with heart that just would not accept defeat. They made even fairweathered fans love them.

Then, it all fell apart. I wish I could tell you why, but I don\'t know. Did the team start to believe that they were so good that they did not have to try anymore? Did they lose their team spirit? Did the simply lose their drive? Who knows? the only thing that matters is that they lost -- a lot more than a few games that they should have won and a possible shot at the playoffs. They lost the respect and awe that they had earned around the league -- something that they have seen little of in this franchise\'s history.

Even after this season, no matter how it turns out, playoff berth or not, I\'ll still love the SAINTS. But I sure wish that they would make it easier to love them...

Sorry for the rant. This is just my opinion after a couple of very disappointing weeks.

Go SAINTS!!!!!
