...over the past few years.

Aaron has always been best when his star running back has been out, and the focus of the game plan has been on his arm.

When Deuce or Ricky were racking up the yards, McCarthy geared the offense around them. Jeff Blake got us to the playoffs with a 7-4 record....Aaron was 3-2 (barely) after Blake got hurt. We won the playoff on Aaron's arm with Ricky out.

Yesterday, Aaron's arm allowed Stecker to gain 100 yd.s. McCarthy should use the pass to open up the run, not visa versa. The running game with Deuce is great, but you make touchdowns and win games with passes, you control the clock with runs. That's exactly what we did last night. That's what we did in our one playoff win. It's a tried and true formula for winning.

Excellent point.

3 games 6 TD`s ... 1 on the ground, 5 in the air.

I don\'t want to say this , so I will anyway. I really don\'t think it matters who we put in the backfield if Brooks keeps playing like he has the last two games. Stecker showed us all he can do it, but I would still like to see my Deuce back.

Deuce gives us a better chacne to win - period.

That said, many of us have been saying for a LONG time that McCarthy needs to use Deuce like the Rams used Faulk. They need to run him out of single back spread formations mostly. The problem with the two tightend set isn\'t that he doesn\'t have a lead blocker, though that doesn\'t help. The problem is that teams KNOW we are going to run out of that, and they risk a LB on Boo or Conwell rather than take an extra man out of the box to stop Deuce.

The Saints use Deuce like Baltimore uses Jamal Lewis. Ball control offense where the run sets up the pass through play action. That just isn\'t the right way to use Deuce. Can you imagine what he could do running against nickle and dime packages once the CBS have been softened up with the pass and the front four are taking their first steps up-field to rush the passer, rather than trying to diagnose the play?

I just hope McCarthy is learning his lesson right now, but I doubt that he is. I fear that Deuce will come back and you\'ll see 2 TE sets again. Stecker had success this week not b/c he is all that good, but rather b/c the offensive scheme was exactly what it SHOULD BE every week.

i have been saying this for 3 freakin years. McCarthy is assbackwards. He always tried to open the pass up with the run.. and everybody knew this INCLUDING the other team..

powerset run on first and second down and throw on 3rd and long. We were so predictable. McCarthy never changed.

Now duece is out and he finally uses the pass to open up the run.. if he would have done this with duece we could have easily won 10 games. Yes, there would have been times when brooks would be off and the gameplan would backfire.

McCarthy you have to see now that this is the way to do it. Too bad it took duece to get hurt for it to happen.
