Training Camp Battles: Wide Receiver
Remember when our best receiver was Eric Martin, great hands, slow as molasses...
After that was Moe Hill who wouldn't make most rosters at the time?!? Well, now we have a feast of options led by media-neglected, should be All-Pro Wide Receiver Marques Colston... Lance Moore is the sure handed mid route slot receiver... Then a host of promising hopefuls... Last year's Draft Pick Nick Toon has the pedigree and prototypical size... This year's Draft Pick Kenny Stills has a similar pedigree and great route running/speed... Then there are the next level of guys trying to break through... Courtney Roby, perennial special team and emergency wide receiver... Andy Tanner, two time practice squad champion and breakout camp player... Joe Morgan, burner and last year's surprise and this year's offtime disappointment... Saalim Hakim, non-traditional route to NFL, top-end NFL speed, learning his way from the school of hard knocks... Parker, Givens, Fayson who've caught Coach Payton's eye at one time or another... And Brent Leonard, Northeast Louisiana Star trying to make it to the next level with his size and hands... Can't remember ever having this kind of talent, this deep at wide receiver... This position is gonna be a heart-breaker... Wouldn't be surprised to see someone after Colston traded in the next few weeks... |
