METAIRIE, La. ó John Jenkins carries nearly 350 pounds on his 6-foot-3 frame.

But itís not his size that stands out after listening to him talk for just a few moments.

Itís the humble demeanor that you notice, the thankful attitude towards those who have guided him through his 24 years.

Midway through training camp in his rookie season, he already has it figured out itís now time to impress another group Ė those on a Saintsí roster chockfull of veteran savvy.

ďIím just working,Ē Jenkins said. ďIím just learning from these vets. No matter what these guys have planned for me, Iím willing to do whatever (they ask).Ē

The Saints hope that Jenkinsí work makes their draft-day wheeling and dealing to get him worth it. New Orleans sent running back Chris Ivory to the New York Jets for the No. 106 overall pick and then dealt that pick, along with No. 109, to Miami for the No. 82 pick.

His size, though, does stand out on the field. Jenkins is down to 347 or so pounds from nearly 360. While that has helped get off the ball a tick quicker, it hasnít taken away from what his main role is at nose tackle Ė eat up blocks along the line and push back into the pocket.

ďI know John Jenkins is a real stout guy, Iíve gone against him quite a bit,Ē starting center Brian de la Puente said. ďHe is stout, plays with heavy leverage and he will be a good addition to the defense for sure.Ē

Jenkins doesnít take talk of his size as a negative; in fact, heís more than happy to hear players like de la Puente bring it up.

ďFor those guys to say that itís a blessing,Ē Jenkins said. ďYou got to realize this is a Super Bowl team that Iím on. For them to say that Iím stout means that Iím doing something to improve the team.Ē

Well I think we already got our money worth since Ivory is already hurt with the Jets.

Think this may be a great start for us lets hope he doesn/t emulate the others we got from Georgia. I can't wait for Atlanta. They got a heck of a back in S Jackson now but I think we can counter that much better this year. Think they are going to be surprised.
