Saints vs Raiders 7Pm Cent Friday
 

The second preseason game should be a prelude to understanding whether our defense can adjust, and see if they learned anything from being "on their heals" against the Chiefs in the first drive.


Hopefully we will get to see some PT, and a few other players that didn't participate in the first preseason game.


Who are you going to be watching specifically this week?

Multiple votes are allowed... I would hate for you to feel empty inside if you voted defense and the offense was on the field.

I voted Linebackers; mainly the #1s... We've already witnessed the adjustments in the first game, between the Chiefs 1st/2nd offensive possession.

And to a lesser extent, the offense. See if the #1s can get started earlier than the last game.

I voted adjustments and 2-4 string wide receivers. I want to see those WR hold onto passes they dropped against KC and I want to see the adjustments made on Defense, in some cases those defensive adjustments may mean swapping out LBs who are fit for purpose depending on down and distance.

LB'ers and D adjustments is what I'm watching for. I'll keep a lazy eye on the 2-4 WR's too.

I'm gonna focus on the entire front 7, then re-watch it several times play by play to see the studs and duds. I've re-watched the KC game about 5 or 6 times already. Yeah I know... I need to get a life. By the way, Will Smith looks slow every time I re-watch it.

Its hard to focus on Special teams because 1/2 the players on it won't be on the 53.

I will be watching the injury wire for other teams DE's, in other games, because that's likely the only way we can conceivably get rid of Will Smith in a trade....there's still a chance that someone might be hard-up and need to trade for him, if it's an emergency or if some other team is in WIN NOW mode and need a serviceable-not-great 4-3 DE as a desperate fix, to get them over the hump for one year....stranger things have happened.

Players I'd like to see early (running with first, second string), extensively (at least three full series) are:

Terron Armstead, John Jenkins, Chase Thomas, Eric Martin, Kevin Reddick...

Let them get their reps, mistakes in and see what you've got; we know the starters on the roster already so let's see if they can do better...

Defensive adjustments and running game. Too bad for Smith I was hoping he could really make the adjustment but he is running on old legs. He is a hitter but just not made for this. Maybe like someone suggested we could trade him to a 4-3 and get something. I think we are going to have to look on the waver wire to bring someone in that can help. We all knew that our defense was going to be a work in progress overall I think we will at least be average and show improvement week to week but we are still going to be burned. Sean built this team initially for an offensive show and our defense did get old and just not panned out.

Besides the normal starters I really liked what I saw with Glenn Foster and Tyrunn Walker. Also Toon, Tanner, Parker, Atkins, Cadet, Robinson, McCown, Richardson...

We're gonna end up cutting some good players.

I want to see the first string Defense get a stop during their first drive so people will quit crying. Whether that means the defense is improved or not no one knows. All I know is a lot of people are just concerned about that first drive being stopped or the sky will be falling.

SkyMike convinced me to have my daughter dance with the Jr. Saintsations...

We weren't able to make it, but she still got to dance with another group in the same manner with the Saintsations on the field for the Falcons Saints game a couple of years ago - she practiced the two nights before then performed that Sunday, my ex went so I didn't geaux...

The next home game I went with her to a game a grateful customer had given tickets for; all the Saintsations remembered her, making a big deal, pictures/hugs - everyone from Houma/Thibodaux that we saw was telling me "Lucky B**tard and asking me WTH do you know?"

Man, I really love my little girl...

...especially when she showed the ex my Southern Al B Pics with the Saintsations (who by the way asked Abby where our tickets were and came and met us during the game while selling their calenders and asked us after where we were going to eat!

theme of the common man was playing in my head the rest of that day...
