Former Saints Should Tread Lightly

Carl Nicks in an October 2012 news story characterized leaving the Saints to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as "lollipops and rainbows.”

Well, now a CBS Sportsline story states Nicks is gonna miss a month with an MRSA infection...

Hey Carl, how's that move working out for you?!?:bng:

I seriously doubt Nicks only misses a month. MRSA is extremely serious. It can take months to beat, if you do beat it. It can be life threatening. It can take a limb.

WOW... it's several players on the Bucs team. I feel bad for them. That is no joke that MRSA. It appears it affects the Patriots also. The Saints better not get infected when we play them early in the year.

Must be in the water. We've become as bad as Falcon fans.

I don't have a problem when a player leaves. I support them and really wish the best for them. However, when a former player starts talking bad about my team; screw 'em!

How do you feel when Saint fans start talking bad about our team?

About the same Danno.

There is a difference in being unhappy with the way a game turns out and out right talking bad about the organization.

Well said. I have no problem with criticism if and when deserved, but a lot of fans cross that line into hateful sniping. I thought we were better than that crap.

Oh well, I guess thats why we have an ignore feature.

I think Nicks was a little pissed about not getting resigned and ran his mouth. Now, I don't sit back and wait or enjoy when and if a former player gets cut, injured or in Nicks' case; an infection.

Also; Tampa has already hired a company to come in and disinfect the whole building.

MRSA is a serious deal and I'm not going to gloat or joke about it or say anything other than wishing Nicks and their kicker to get well. If Nicks got a parking ticket in front of his house in Tampa, or got benched for being out of shape, well that would be "KARMA," but this is much more serious.

I had a friend who got one of those infections, from a spider bite/hospital visit, and for about 12 hours at the worst of it, it was touch and go about whether he would even keep his arm. Scary and very difficult to treat.

I don't really know what happened in our society that people celebrate injuries or illness. I can speculate that watching people die on tv and video games makes us numb to it.

I would hope that if it were more personal, people would truly hate it. Seeing it up close as opposed to tv might grab people's attention. I think that injuries don't seem real unless you're right there experiencing it.

I appreciate all Saints past and present (I still have a problem with Joe Horn though.) Generally speaking, I don't wish suffering on anyone.

Our old OL guys has bad luck with the MRSA. Its what destroyed LeCharles Bentleys knee. He would have been allright from the injury if not for the injury He almost lost his leg.

Some of the people here are pathetic. I make a specific effort to avoid snippy little pissing-contests that I used to get into years ago on this forum, because I feel I have matured beyond that (plus it's a waste of time).......but it's hard not to comment when you see people delighting in someone's injury.

And the irony is, you have some of them having the nerve to talk about "karma" after delighting in a man having an injury that could follow him the rest of his life.
