I love this kind of thinking...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; ...when, on NFL.com, 11 out of 11 analysts have picked the Falcons to take the NFC South. not one has given us a chance to take it. Now, this may upset some of you but it certainly doesn't upset me. ...

I love that we have been the forgotten team and that everyone is focussing on Atlanta (and I think you would have to be a fool to say that Atlanta isn't a good team, as much as it pains me to say it) It will just make it all the more sweet should we prove them wrong. I said long before the season's start that this year we would win the Superbowl and I have never liked making those kind of predictions but I really do believe it, and to stick it to our doubters would be a wonderful thing.

And when we beat the Falcons this weekend these same experts will claim it was just because of the emotion of SP's first game back...

Re: I love this kind of ,thinking...

I love that kind of thinking, too.

I have a theory about all these analysts (or a lot of them).

I think they don't actually watch the actual games.

I think they just look at scores and stats and talk to each other, look at what each other says, inside a media bubble, and just throw stuff out there. I am beginning to suspect they just watch the same national games on TV like everybody else.

That one guy who predicted the Saints will get blown out by the Buccaneers this year, and would only score 7 points. 7 points! Against a team we swept and scored 76 points against in 2 games last year. And this same guy (Drew) scored 32 against the best defense in the NFC in 2012, when nobody else had gotten above 27 on them ALL YEAR. I don't mind predicting a loss, but anybody who predicts the Saints to score 7 points, is clearly NOT watching the Saints or Drew Brees or Bucs/Saints on a regular basis.

That's my theory, is that these "professional" analyst cats DON'T watch these games, because the GIANTS and JETS are on in their market at noon and 3!

If ALL YOU SAW of the Saints last year was the Packers, 49ers, Broncos (ugh!) and Falcons (ugh!) prime time games, you would think the Saints were MUCH worse than they were, especially the offense, because you wouldn't see the 41-0 Bucs game, the 31-27 beating of the Falcons, the tough win over Dallas, how close some of these other games were, etc They just don't see that stuff. They see 34-14 against Denver and think the offense is actually bad all the time.

I would really hope that they hire (the guys at least) based on knowledge.

Now the young ladies - well they are some luscious eye candy, but...

Hell, the morning girl didn't even know "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones.

I guess that makes her not a lover of music & me getting old!

You, sir, are a major downer.. and not even in a glass half empty kind of way. More like a "I've broken the glass and I'm holding the sharpest piece against my wrist" way. Our season hasn't even started yet. You should be brimming with enthusiasm, not drowning in your sorrows already. Anyone who has been a fan more than 10 years knows about heartbreak and disappointment. But we're not that same dysfunctional organization anymore.

Leave the hand-wringing and the gnashing of teeth to the talking heads. We're about 24 hours away from kickoff, its time to get excited! I think its gonna be a fun season, and I'm looking forward to doing my small part to support my Saints. Who Dat!

Re: I love this kind of thinking...

The NFL world in general has never been able to handle the Saints success. It's easier for people to have their neat little box where the Saints suck and so when they don't there is a strong negative reaction.

Add some Katrina backlash, and you have all the absurd hatred the last couple years. The reactions to all the bounty crap was a direct outgrowth of it, and there's never been more proof than when the NFL changed the overtime rules after countless years. Just because the Saints won that way.

So we will continue to be on our little island, backing a misfit. Trick is to not care what anybody thinks, good or bad. Enjoy being a fan of this team on your own terms, not anybody else's.
