The Giants/Cowboys game just ended on NBC and Bob Costas just asked Tony Dungy what he thought of game day.

Bob Costas: "Tony, looking back on the rest of the day, what stood out to you?"

Tony Dungy: "Well I was really glad to see Sean Payton back on the sideline and I think the New Orleans Saints were the most impressive team to me. They moved the ball around, played aggressively on offense, used all their weapons. I thought Drew Brees played well and played in sync, but defensively such an aggressive attitude - when they needed that play at the end of the game to stop Atlanta - they got it. I just think offensively and defensively they looked so much improved. I thought they were the big story today."

Two years ago, his sister was my wife's OB. She had his picture up in her waiting room and everybody would be all "Awww Tony we love him so much blah blah blah" (we lived in Indy). One appointment I just couldn't stand it and I was like "no, screw that guy he's a *****," kind of under my breath but loud enough so that people could hear and my wife told me not to come to any more appointments with her. LOL

Besides of course our 4th quarter Defensive miracle against Atlanta, I would say the Bills vs. the Pats was pretty amazing

Never could understand why media chose to kiss his @$$; he's in the Jim Mora class of coaches - able to get a team organized, but gameday execution was lousy...

Ill say one thing for him.
At least he is willing to admit the defense played well rather than most of the media that are covering there own ass by saying the Saints D caught the clowns cold and making excuses for them.

We were lucky to win this game. ATL drove the lenght of the field and SJ dropped the game winner the play before. Vacarro saved our bacon.

Can't stand Dungy when he opens his mouth, it seems like it pains him when he has to talk up the Saints, he still has hard feeling from back in his NFC South day's.. I can literally hear him grinding his teeth when a Saints segment come on and he has to comment about em..

Obviously he decided to watch our game with note-pad in hand and anticipate us losing so he can say "I TOLD YOU SEAN PAYTON COMING BACK WASN'T GOING TO HELP THE SAINTS". He didn't even bother going in depth about other teams, he probably already had his "Saints Lost" Teleprompter ready and had to later back-peddle freelance out of it.

It was an exciting game and huge win, for sure. I was enormously encouraged by the defense from the second quarter on, with the long run being the only real exception.

Offensively, I don't see what Tony was so impressed about. We racked up the yards, but it was a highly inefficient performance. Drew under threw a lot of receivers (even on a few completions), and though his stats look solid, he definitely wasn't as sharp. Ingram continued to lack of existence, and there were some very costly penalties. Sean Payton made a horrible decision by calling for a deep handoff on 4th and inches. That should have been a QB sneak, and it doesn't take a genius or even hindsight to figure that out. It's common sense.

Drew wasn't bad, just off. The receivers caught the ball well. Sproles and Thomas played well at times. All in all, it just seemed like the offense lacked it's usual killer instinct when they had chances to distance themselves, and made a few dumb mistakes.

The fact that we won in spite of all that gives me great confidence going forward. I fully expect they will be more sharp in the redzone. I think the Saints showed there is no doubt who the class of this division is, and perhaps of the entire NFL. We'll just have to see if the defense will be consistent now.

The one thing I will always remember about Dungy is this:

When he was head coach at Tampa Bay, and Keyshawn Johnson was his no 1 WR, there was a season where Keywhawn caught 101 passes and scored 1 TD. How the heck can you have a WR catch 101 passes, and only score 1 TD? It's not possible.
