Kenny Vaccaro's big plays

1) The hit on Matty Lice may have been a little late, but it wasnt dirty. He led with his shoulder, and hit him in the midsection. Just his way of letting #12 know that there's a new sheriff in town

2) Roman Harper may have intercepted the ball on last play of the game, but Vacarro's the one who tipped the ball at the last second, then pulled Gonzales's arm down so he couldnt go back up for the ball.

So glad we drafted him - he's a stud

Totally agree. Especially on the hit to Ryan. It was late, and warranted a penalty but Ryan slid late and Vaccaro hit him the right way; and Just enough to let him know who he was, and he wasn't going anywhere. It was a tone-setter, and I was happy to take the 15 yard penalty just to watch Shatty wince in pain for a while...

Vaccaro was Ryans Nemesis... The hit and deflection on the last play..

Ryan is not going to buy a K-Vac jersey any time soon.

HUGE play against Gonzo, no question. The hit on Ryan was not blatant since it was a late slide, but those three points were worth it to tell Ryan not to try that crap again.

We got us a player! That kid will be fun to watch - he's only going to get better.

No problem with the penalty. Ryan stopped running around trying to gain 10 yards after that shot. Ryan will run on you if you let him so might as well set the tone early. Either go down early or don't run.

According to reports, Vaccaro played every defensive snap. Good job rookie!!!

+1, no doubt.

Great defenses are intimidating. They bring an attitude to ever game. Typically, there is one player who sets that tone and elevates the entire D. When we won the SB it was Sharper with his picks.

Last year the D lacked a leader on the field. Vacarro seems to be cut from the same cloth as Polamalu. If so, it going to be fun watching the D for a change.

Consider what Payton and Brees will do with another 4 or 5 possessions a game.

While it was highly effective as it clearly rattled Ryan, it was a cheap shot that I found tacky. I love the attitude and intensity he brings but he needs to smarten up with those type of things... it could become very costly later on.

I don't think it was intended to be a cheap shot.........just painful.;)
Meg Ryan looked rattled after that.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro's big plays

To me that hit was not a cheap shot. It was a football play both were going to the ground and couldn't stop momentum. It would have been a cheap shot if he lead with the crown of his helmet or hit him well out of bounds like Clay Matthews did to Kaepernick.

The flag was warranted because of the rules only. If Ryan would have slid a second earlier it would have been legal.

I love Vacarro. I am more excited about him as a first round pick than I have been about anyone since Deuce.

Yep - completely. Even the talking heads said it was NOT a cheap shot BUT it did deserve a penalty. In watching the game on NFL Rerun even the commentators said the same.

I bet Matty shat himself, again!!

Great Draft Pick. Kenny Vaccaro look great.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro's big plays

This defense has not had a difference maker since Sharper. Early signs points to Vacarro being a playmaker. Big time players make plays in crunch time with the game in the balance. Vacarro did that this game.
