PY with yet another trash can worthy article

"Ryan was under duress way more than he should have been against a defense that isn’t that talented."

Upon Further Review: Atlanta Falcons Week 1 - ESPN

Just goes to show you how well he actually covers the NFC South. Rarely ever talks about the Saints and when he does he calls the defense untalented. I hope this type of talk continues from the media, we need to keep flying under the radar for a bit longer.

Not the Greatest Show on Turf: There was a lot of offseason talk about Atlanta’s offense and how it could be among the greatest ever. That was obvious Sunday as the Falcons scored 17 points against a defense that was the worst in the league last season. When you have Roddy White, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez, Matt Ryan and Steven Jackson, you should be scoring 17 points a quarter.
No credit given to the defense whatsoever...

Eating crow tends to cause indigestion.

I suspected this was the case:

The more that the national sports media gets to digest their "undisputed NFC South Champion for 2013" dropping their season opener (some said they would win by 14), the more they will make excuses and say ATL gave the game away, not that the Saints earned it.

I've heard that clown on with Bobby & Deke and he talked about thinking the Saints D would be better.

Now he craps on us in the national press after praising us in the local press???

That's about as slimy as that pair of snakeoil saleman US Senators (1 each from LA and AR) who preach one set of beliefs to the people of the state & then go to DC to sell out...

Nobody is giving us credit. Good. I expected it. They didn't give usel credit until we were 13-0 in 2009. Lets do it again.

True Dat. Even then, they thought the Colts were the real deal and many speculated the Vikings were better than us in the NFC.

They really howled when we lost the last 3 games of the regular season...

I think Steve Young was the only one on the bandwagon. And maybe Gruden. I know Ditka was. And Bradshaw.

Gruden and Bradshaw have been on the band wagon since Payton came here. Terry really shows his love a lot.:D

Only befitting to raise the Lombardi in New York with the international sign of friendship.

That's the write up for the falcons. I read it as... PY was showing how the falcons offense isn't as elite as it's been billed.

In the Saints write up. He says Rob Ryan may have the Saints defense headed in the right direction.

I wonder exactly where these national media types get their criteria of who is "talented" and who is not.

Look, I was a sportswriter for 12 years, mostly high school and college football and a tiny bit of NFL. Sportswriters do not go to some magical "sportswriting school" where they learn the intricacies of analyzing game film or whatever. They see who has talent the same way any knowledgeable fan would. The problem is they can't go to every game, so they have to go by stats and reputation a lot of the time/

Having said that, Pat Y seems like an exceptionally lazy writer to me, and what's worse, he seems to have very little interest in covering the Saints even though that is supposed to be part of his beat. I stopped reading his stuff a long time ago because 99% of it is the same kind of uninsightful crap you can read on Bleacher Report.

Saints Fico is good enough to not need credit from a shark.

With Pat - and so many other National Media Types, it's all formula. They have a template and an agenda and they follow them. Local Sports Radio is where it's at.
