The good:

Graham is the best I agree, and its not even close really. This is the cellar of his career, his ceiling? Jesus scary to think about, especially if you are another teams defense.

Defense is definitely overall improved. For the most part

Young defensive guys are stepping it up big time when being called due to injury

The bad:

Defense is still a liability in pass coverage, although not near as much so as last year.

Offensive line. Letting Kromer walk was a grave mistake. Period. We have slowly replaced every piece of our offensive line except Evans and downgraded in order to pay other players (Brees)

Brees. He is getting older, he is losing his accuracy, which is his best attribute. I think a younger Brees would have been fine behind this line. The bright side is, even though he has lost a step he is still an elite top 5 QB in the league.

Thats it for now thanks

Re: Lessons Learned Week Two

The line is not giving drew any time, that said he threw some bad balls today, but he was right on target when it mattered most and that is the mark of a winner

Pat Rob injury open the door for pat swelling? if I spelled that right. I'd rather have Brees than 90% of other quarterbacks anyway. Hopefully the oline gets its shzt together and krob gets to play!

At least for what we are playing them; look I know one good guard can change a team's fortunes...

My example, Steve Hutchinson; everyone raved about Walter Jones and how he made things happen for Shaun Alexander; Hutchinson left for the Vikings, the Seahawks with Alexander and Jones still there tanked, and guess who emerged? Adrian Peterson.

But Guards don't score touchdowns and to have what we have committed to two guards is poor salary cap management; especially when there is no money to build around them...

Re: Lessons Learned Week Two

1. 2-0 without playing great. I have to give that to the Head Coach even though his decisions today were not correct.
2. Rob Ryan and the defense deserve equal credit if not more for the 2-0 start. Although, there was a clear lack of a pass rush with the DLinemen or with the blitz schemes today.
3. Brees is a tough, not-big, once-young, (see what I did. lol.) dude, but he won't be playing at the end of the season if the O-Line doesn't improve. Part of that can be helped with less predictable play calling and having PT on the field more.
4. It's painful watching Ingram. He has no ability and or/vision to make yards if the hole isn't there. PT and Sproles are CLEARLY more effective in the Saints offense.
5. The injuries on defense, especially along the line, are going to catch up to the Saints. Jordan, Hicks and Jenkins all balled today. But, if one of them goes down, it's not going to be pretty.
6. Lofton, Hawthorne, and Haralson all are playing well and hit people.
7. Lewis and Greer are holding their own at CB and are mostly plaing darn well.
8. Jenkins is looking better at safety. He has the tools.
9. Did Watson get hurt today? His lack of play was noticeable.
10. Graham is a playmaker and a tough dude. I wish they would expose him less down the seam. He takes some shots.
11. White and Reddick continue to shine on special teams.
12. DLP has peaked and his greatest asset to the team is he's cheap. The OLine will have two or maybe even three new starters next year.
13. The Saints play another scrappy but less talented team next week. They need to get up after two tough divisional games and stake an early claim to a top seed in the playoffs. They NEED to play at home in the playoffs.
14. Didn't want to end on 13. WHO DAT!

#3. I didn't see as many Brown issues as I did Evans/DLP.

Evans is playing injured, they were looking at his leg in the 2nd Qtr.

Re: Lessons Learned Week Two

i am not knocking the guards at all. but they can only do so much to help the other lineman out. the center of the pocket is getting pushed way to far back. the edges are collapsing and drew has no where to go. time for the front office to stop playing this game.

OC is my biggest issue right now. The book is out on the middle of the saints OL. last year and now this year stunts in the middle are killing us.

It early to beat the draft drum but if this is not fixed Drew is at major risk.
(as of now Tyler Larsen Utah ST. has my eye in the mid rounds )

we all know the OT needs upgrading and we have one in the wings trying to get up to NFL speed. so i am waiting to see what shakes out first

Brees and his agent, Tom Condon, are to blame for that - not leaving enough salary cap room to sign complimentary players, especially linemen, to protect him...

He got his @$$ handed to him (i.e. sort of like Rocky got his handed to him by a younger Clubber Lang) by Frisco twice and now Tampa...

Brees is an amazing quarterback - no doubt - and this franchise probably isn't as successful without him; but, if he's not smart enough to research the cap room (i.e. Hell, even a member of B&G can do it!) and be a "team" player by leaving some for his teammates, then shame on him...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
