Drew was baited twice by the LB acting like he was in man.

Re: Brees

But in the end, he found a way to pull victory out of the jaws of defeat, as all good teams do with a decent QB.

Have you all already forgotten the days when Montana used to do the very same thing to the Saints, even with our good defense under the Dome Patrol?

Re: Brees

I'm not going to quote everyone on this thread because some of the critique is warranted. I think some is premature.

Drew Brees throwing interceptions is nothing new. We've even seen him throw some doozies. None of this is earth shattering when your team throws 85 to 90% of the time.

Why Drew is so important was epitomised in the last drive. Drew Brees rivals Joe Montana and others as the greatest QB's in history for last minute drives. Much like Montana, he seems to thrive in a last minute situation with the game on the line. That is a skill the MAJORITY of QB's in the league do not enjoy and teams fall short on last drives all the time - except for the Saints and Brees.

I'm not saying the last minute drill is an excuse for his INT's yesterday (because the INT direct to the defender was embarrassing) but I'm saying everyone needs to put this game into perspective.

As for his arm strength, we just haven't seen enough passes downfield to justify what you're some are saying. I still see power frozen ropes and touch passes.

As for our o-line and the loss of Kromer, what I saw was a fantastic Bucs defense that was sloppy in errors, but fantastic nonetheless. Give credit where credit is due - Tampa Bay went out into free agency and brought in some hot talent. Nuff said and realize this.

Re: Brees

I've been more concerned about his accuracy lately more than decision making. (Second INT aside. I am still trying to figure that one out.)

It's not that his completion percentage is suffering so much, but it is the ball position relative to the receiver that seems off. It seems like he's not hitting them in stride anymore and they are having to adjust to make the catches. That and all of his deep balls seem under thrown.

Re: Brees

Never understood why people blame the QB on games like this. The O-line played like crap and Ingram would of been more use if he was selling popcorn in the stands. Brees had a bad game. HIs first in YEARS. We won even know he had a bad game. That alone should make you impressed with the rest of the team. This team will go very far this year.

Interceptions are my biggest pet peeve. Same reason I never liked Favre or Eli.

Re: Brees

The first int. he threw was a play the defensive guy made a great play on the ball, the second one Brees threw a turd.

Don't get wrapped around the axle on this. Drew had a bad game, the offense as a whole didn't play all that well. It happens and btw TB does have a real good defense, add in the rain delay and voila, the receipe for disaster. We narrowly avoided it. The last minute drive where we didn't use the sidelines to stop the clock completely took TB by surprise. The genius of SP & DB once again on display.

Re: Brees

I said it in another thread. I think that shot he took affected him more than we know. His passes got shorter and less accurate after he took that hit. The long ball seemed like it was non-existant after that...except for the last drive...when it counted most. He'll work hard this week, and he'll pick the Cards apart next weekend.
