Drew Brees: Dashon Goldson "has no regard for the rules in the middle "of the field"

1 Attachment(s)
“I know he (Dashon Goldson) has had a lot of those,” Drew Brees said after Wednesday’s practice. “He certainly has no regard for the rules in the middle (of the field). He is going after guys heads ... you can see it.”

Tampa Bay Bucs safety Dashon Goldson may have gotten a reprieve from a one-game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles, but he didn’t get any breaks from Drew Brees.

Goldson’s hit was one of three personal foul calls the Bucs drew in the second quarter with defensive end Adrian Clayborn and safety Ahmad Black also delivering helmet-to-helmet blows.

Brees took a violent hit from Clayborn on a sack and Black crunched Saints tight end Jimmy Graham while being dragged to the ground by another defender after he couldn’t bring in a pass from Brees over the middle.

“It was obvious they were going at his head,” Brees said. “I have no sympathy for that. I care for those guys, and I don’t want to see that happen to our guys.

“I know the rules and I know it is tough playing the safety position in the middle,” he added. “Things happen fast, but then again, there are some instances where it is pretty obvious a guy was going for another guy’s head. That happened on at least two occasions in our game.”

The NFL's "justice" is given out so unevenly that it makes the petty politics and payoffs of local county/parish/municipal judicial systems look GOOD.

Someday the reckless NFL will serve an entire team an injustice for their own purposes or for public relations........... DOH! My bad, that already happened. Carry on everyone.

Come on Drew...shut up. Worry about not throwing any picks to Arizona. Pat Pete and Honey Badger are waiting for you.

He's also the Player Rep for the NFLPA. They ask him these questions because he represents the players.

As for the INT's, Drew NEVER strings 2 bad personal games together back to back. Let's hope that trend continues.

One can only hope. I don't really consider the ATL game a good one, but we'll see if be bounces back.

RGIII can jack his jaw all day with your support but Drew needs to zip it?

RG3 needed to shut up too.

But in order to understand why I think Drew needs to shut up, you must understand my stance on the issues.

I believe we had bounties. I believe it was pay for performance and pay for knock out shots. Meaning injuries or game ending hits. Now where I differ with most, I see nothing wrong with it. I support it. A lot of these things they're flagging and fining for I'm cool with and don't agree with punishing for it. I was taught go out there and hurt somebody. Knock they ass out the game. You have no friends on the field. And that's what I like to see. So Goldson is the type of player I like. I wish we had him. John Lynch. Brian Dawkins. Darren Woodson. They'd be considered "dirty" now.

I do not need to understand your issues, they run deep and kick off is Sunday at noon :). When I said RGIII needed to shut up you argued with me for hours... Free speech, needing to be heard, needing to be understood, your generation, honesty with the press, and all.

Would you like me to dig the thread out of the NFL section?

You're talking about when they asked him that 1st time about Shannahan? Nah, I thought that was fine. He should've left it at that. He started going on and on after the fact. He was in the news constantly for saying and tweeting stuff regarding the injury. Let coach handle that after you already said how you feel once.

But what Drew is speaking on is a bigger issue in itself. RG3 was speaking on something that dealt with RG3 and RG3 alone. Drew is speaking on a hot topic issue where I stand on the opposing end of the fence. Tom Brady praised Goldson. As he should.

Good solid play is great. Dirty play is not.
