Who should survive?

There has been so much discussion lately on who Benson should fire. I'm curious if there are people we think Benson ought to keep. Should anyone from the current regime stay in New Orleans?

Additionally, any players that should go (aside from the obvious)?

No coach should survive, that\'s for sure. A complete house-cleaning is needed if you ask me. I suspect that there would also be A LOT of change at LB and CB as well. Otherwise, I don\'t see any glaring needs personnel wise - the problem is with the coach.

IMO

Dump \'em: Venturi, McCarthy, Haslett, Victor Riley, Ki-Jana Carter, Darren Howard, Jonathan Sullivan, Keyou Craver, Sedric Hodge, Tebucky Jones, Ashley Ambrose

Keep \'em: Mickey Loomis, LeCharles Bentley (back to guard), Mike Karney, Deuce McAllister, Donte Stalworth, Devery Henderson, Charles Grant, Will Smith, Michael Lewis, Mel Mitchell, Rodney Leislie, Mitch Berger, Mike McKenzie, Fred Thomas (for the nickel)

The rest are mediocre in my book. Replaceable, though many could be coached into becoming reasonable players.

Biggest problem is the linebacking corps.

I know people will question the Darren Howard call. He\'s good - but I don\'t think he\'s great, not at the cost he will want after the franchise tag was used on him last year. Will Smith will be a star, so Howard probably has more trade value right now than longterm value for the team.

Horn is questionable. He\'s holding all the records, but he\'ll be expensive for his next contract, and that hamstring is starting to go. He still has trade value now, before old age and crutches finally take him. So I\'d unload him during the regime change, when Haslett is let go.

Damn right. Amputate the whole hand, don\'t pick and choose between the fingers.

Keep Pease and McCarthy , Cut the rest of the coaching staff .

Pease is a worthy candidate to keep .

McCarthy , name one quarterbacks coach in the league that has taken 3 third stringers in the league and coached them well enough to take a team to the Play offs ? As an offensive coordinator McCarthy blows but as a quarterbacks coach , he seems to excel .

Anybody think Mueller would come back for GM? Loomis seems to be a good contract guy, but not a GM. Haz and both coordinaters should be long gone by the time next season starts.

Dump:
Coaching staff...Hire a true football GM and let him fire/keep whoever he wants.

Players-Release or trade Darren Howard (salary), Joe Horn (why do you think we drafted Henderson)

Everyone else fights for their jobs in TC next year.

Positions to upgrade with quality Free-agents...
RT
WLB
SLB (sign 2 guys, Cie will never play again)
C (move Bentley back to RG)
QB-probably best to take a QB with a late day 1 or early day 2 pick. Brooks will leave soon and we need to develop someone for about 2 years.
