Big Win!! O-Line still worries me

Any thoughts on our O-Line improving?

Other than the Chiefs, the top running teams are not doing so good. Bucs, Vikings, and Eagles are running lights out but they are losing so I don't know...I guess the question is what do we need to improve. We may not be able to run but they can't run against us either. At that point it's a shootout. If they protect Brees we will win most of those.

Having Evans in woulda been a boost, for sure. Aside from that, everything has still looked off. With a big win and a good performance under our belt we might start getting hot though, keep this thing rolling.
Doesn't hurt having back to back home games either.

I thought they were OK. Yes, Brees took a lot of sacks, but that will happen when you don't even pretend you might run the ball. And Brees never really took any hard or dangerous hits.

Keep in mind that is a very good Arizona front 7. Darnell Docket, Calais Campbell, John Abraham, Karlos Dansby. Those are very good players, and their secondary is pretty darn good too. That was a tough defense and Brees sliced them up.

Just as JV says, the Cards D-line are a good group. Getting Evans healthy would be a boost. Still we ran for over a 100 total yards. Back in the days with Deuce a lot of his yards came late in games when we were running to kill the clock.

Terron Armstead has to step up this season and fast our we need to add a player by trade deadline. other than the hope wing and a prayer of a rookie oT i do not see a solution on the roster.

We screwed the poach in the off season with OL and i pray drew stays upright. saints OL depth is average at best

this two guards can save the world ideology has been carried just about far enough.

Evens and Grubs can only do so much

Get healthy boys & keep Drew upright.

Keeping Drew upright is of upmost importance.
Way too many hits on him this year already.

Maybe convert Cam to Oline Lol can't hurt to try right

Our oline is shaky at best. The only thing I can see helping them out is getting our tightends and backs to chip more and maybe including more 2 TE sets so they can help with blocking. I also noticed, there was more of an emphasis this past game for drew to get the ball out quicker. I saw a lot more check downs from drew than in the past. I think that helps as well.

We start doing the things above because when we get down the road and face teams with stout pass rushers (seattle, 49ers, dallas and even carolina) it will look a lot like that tampa bay game.

Payton said in his interview, we are seeing a lot of man and Drew is holding on to the ball longer. Some of those sacks were coverage sacks.

I think it was the TB game that papz and I said we noticed him holding on longer than usual.

Sacks, of course, are not good, and 10 seems like a lot.
Factor in how much we are throwing now, and it evens out a little. Every team who has had more dropbacks has a losing record and has played from behind all year.
Hate to say that it keeps coming back to us not having enough money to re-sign Bushrod or another quality OT

We need help thats for sure. A 100% Evans would help but he cant be a miracle worker. Im all for getting some help on the line via some sort of trade if we can. Im not so worried about or defense right now, we will start getting players back soon and they rest of the problems we can address through draft and FA. We need Oline help right now.

We miss Kromer. We also have a hurt Evans, and we also have a different Left Tackle. They need more snaps together as a unit, and it's gonna take time for it to click; just hoping it is clicking when we start Week 11. Or before Drew gets killed back there.

Actually, I would say before week 10 since we play dallas who has some pretty good pass rushers

Then we get the teams below. The falcons probably have the weakest pass rush of those teams but ultimately we can not go into those slate games with our line playing like it is now and expect good things to happen.

49ers
Falcons
Seahawks
Panthers
