Glenn Foster, Tyrunn Walker step forward for Saints defensive line

Glenn Foster didn’t know if he was violating some kind of rookie protocol.

And he really didn’t care.

After the Arizona Cardinals called a timeout amid noise created by New Orleans Saints fans Sunday afternoon, Foster, an undrafted defensive end from Illinois making his first NFL appearance, took it upon himself to pump up the volume even more — first dancing in place, then encouraging the Mercedes-Benz Superdome crowd to get louder.

Most of the those in attendance might not have known who No. 97 was, but they certainly responded.

The result: Foster and nose tackle Tyrunn Walker collapsed the pocket enough that quarterback Carson Palmer had to hurry his throw to Patrick Peterson, and Arizona had to punt after reaching the Saints 42 while the game was tied early in the second quarter.

“I feed off the energy of the fans,” Foster said following his team’s 31-7 victory. “When my adrenaline starts flowing, I don’t feel like anybody can stop me.”

Foster, who was inactive in the first two games with an injured ankle, later would record his first sack, punctuating his joy with a move that was either a windmill or jumping rope, depending on who was doing the describing.

With "The Beard", Cam, and now Foster... we have the potential makings of a dominant consistent pass rush.:banana:

As the guy who sat in front of me said ... "I can't believe I'm watching the Saints".

It's ridiculous to think that last season I was constantly looking at the clock to basically see how long Drew had left to get up the field, on the understanding that giving up a TouchDown was inevitable......

This season I'm looking at the clock to see how little Time of Possession the opposition has before Drew gets the ball back again!

We are no longer a one trick pony. Do we have problems? Oh yes. Our O-line is probably the weakest I have seen it in several years. Our running game needs a power back and a lot more balance. We need to try and use receivers not called Jimmy Graham on every passing down (even if he is the best receiver in the league right now). But we have balance.

Through the first 2 weeks our defence won us the game. And that surprised us all. But at some point we knew our offence would start rolling and it would get ugly. This week, our offence moved up a gear, nothing more. And it looked terrifying. If that offence REALLY starts clicking and if our defence continues to produce, this could be a season for the ages!
