What doesnt kill us can only make us....

Welcome to the board. I agree is could be worse, but I must tell you that most fans are not feeling too positive right about now. Many of us have been season ticket holders for years and some feel jipped. We are on track to become a 7 and 9 or 8 and 8 team.... AGAIN... and it\'s very frustrating for all of us. Thanks for bringing something positive to the board because I too have lost a lot of faith.

wtb u know why i say were done is because we play like crap every week. no ur right by our record were not out of anything. but our games get tougher now. n to be frank we just dont play well at all. its no that we losse its that we loose n play terrible in doing so. not just once a year but every week. its a surprise when we play well. we dont play like the eagles or colts or pats. we play like a bad team plays. right now san diego is a better football team then us. so r most of the teams in the nfl.
but welcome to the board n good post

Your team stinks

2-3 yes.. far from over but we have only played 1 tough team in seattle.

We now have to face culpepper to moss show..

L.T. show

Priest Holmes show..

It could really get embarrassing.

Go Saints
Read my lips: IT\'S OVER!

The Saints have played 4 really bad teams (SF, StL, Arz, TB) and one so-so team (SeaHawks) and have looked bad in all 5 games. They are 2-3 in clearly the weakest part of their schedule this year.

The worst part is that they have looked hapless while working through this part of the schedule. The run defense is non existant, other than Grant the pass rush is weak. The offense has fumblitist, dropitist, penaltyitist, and every other kind of stupiditist that you can think of. Neither coordinator can coach themselves out of a wet paper bag. Brooks has missed a bunch of reads and then when he makes the right read he doesn\'t get the ball to the right spot. Then if he makes the right read, and gets the ball to the right spot, the receiver doesn\'t catch it. Even the special teams has deteriorated. Michael Lewis was looking like the world beater of 2002 in the first couple of games. Now he\'s running out of bound again.

I don\'t need any sunshine up my butt on this. The Saints flat suck. And you\'re really going to see if in the next 5-6 weeks when they don\'t win another game in that stretch. They are going to come up on your high powered offenses that really (I mean REALLY) know how to run the ball. KC, Denver, San Diego, and even Oakland are simply going to line up and shove the ball down the Saints collective throats. Last week Denver\'s 3rd string back got 193 yards on Carolina. Do you remember the last time Denver came to town? Anderson ran for 200+ yards.

The sad thing is that Benson won\'t do what needs to be done. He\'s content to let us be teased by this bad, poorly coached team, because we keep selling out the SuperDome and he gets his $15 million check from the state every year.

Fire Haslett, Venturi, and McCarthy. NOW! TODAY! Get someone with better habits in. See if Jim Fassel will resume build. Give him an extended tryout. Hell I\'d even give Dan Reeves another stab at it. Just anyone, ANYONE, other than the three knuckleheads at the top of the coaching staff now. Get them gone. That\'s what Atlanta did last year, and look where they are now...

Think outside the box. This season is lost. It\'s not the record, it\'s the way the team has played in getting the record. So turn on the lights, this party is over.

How about an off the wall suggestion: Go get Art Shell formerly of the Raiders. The guy has a winning NFL coaching percentage though he\'s not coached at the head coaching level in 10 years. Give him an extended tryout. He has nothing to lose.

Loomis needs to go too. Randy Mueller was clearly the brains of the original Saints brain trust in 2000. Ever since Mueller has left it\'s been one bad personnel decision after another.

But these coaching bums need to be let go and we need to start over. And we need to do it now so that the team can have a chance to see someone else in the last 11 games of this season. If we wait until the end of the year, then we\'re going to lose next year too no matter how good the coach is.

My ideal world:

Benson turns the team over to his granddaughter, who at least has a clue.

Loomis: Gone. Bring Mueller back.

Haslett,McCarthy,Venturi: all gone. Now!

Bench both tackles. Tell any offensive player (including Deuce, Brooks, and Horn) that negative grades (fumbles, drops, penalties) will get their behind benched. Same on the defensive side.

Use the defensive speed and talent to blitz every down, 60 times a game if necessary. Jam receivers on the line. Lay them out! Beat up the QB. Make opposing offenses miserable.

I\'m just tired of the same old crap. There hasn\'t been one series on either side of the ball this whole season that I felt really good about this team. I just keep waiting for them to screw up. And guess what: They always do.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

You don\'t think Venturi\'s read and react system is working well? LOL.

This defense ranked 18th last season. Did it really get worse, or were their stats padded b/c teams never had to do much more than run on us b/c a) we couldn\'t stop it and b) our offense couldn\'t score.

It seems a slightly improved run defense and offense has hurt this team more than anything. Scoring lots of points seems to have made our opponents look to put points up early and often. The fact that we can stop the run when its obvious has probably hurt too. Now teams focus on our terrible secondary and soften us up with ease. Then, once the defense is firmly on its heels, they run it down our throats.

I have a hard time believing that this D got worse over the offseason. I think it was this bad last year to begin with - the stats just didn\'t show it.

It\'s so sad that it is somewhat funny.

This defense ranked 18th last season. Did it really get worse, or were their stats padded b/c teams never had to do much more than run on us b/c a) we couldn\'t stop it and b) our offense couldn\'t score.
It\'s gotten worse. Last year we were giving up 140 per game on the ground. It\'s up a bit from that now, and that\'s only because Martz decided not to run Faulk in the Rams game. If his hardheaded behind had done what everyone else had, it would be closer to 180 a game easily.

In the sunshiny offseason I said that the defense needed to stop the run and rush the passer to be successful. Do you see either of those? Opposing QBs often have 5-7 seconds to pick out receivers. No secondary can hold off that long.

I have a hard time believing that this D got worse over the offseason. I think it was this bad last year to begin with - the stats just didn\'t show it.
Agreed. But I think it\'s now scheme more than talent. So fire the schemers. Specifically Haslett and Venturi (McCarthy too BTW).
