Do we fully appreciate what Jimmy Graham is doing this season?

1 Attachment(s)
"It wasn't long ago that 37 catches, 593 yards and six touchdowns was a good season for a tight end. Heck, Jared Cook had 44 catches, 523 yards and four touchdowns just last season for Tennessee, and St. Louis rewarded him with a $35 million contract in free agency.

Saints tight end Jimmy Graham has put up that 37-593-6 line in just five games this season.

Graham is on pace for 118.4 catches, 1,897.6 yards and 19.2 touchdowns this season. If he can keep up something close to that pace, we're not talking about greatest season for a tight end anymore, because that would be a closed case. We'd have to start comparing his season to every pass catcher who has ever played the game.

Graham's size, athleticism and skill with the ball in the air, along with an all-time great quarterback in Drew Brees throwing him the ball and a creative offensive-minded head coach in Sean Payton, make him nearly unstoppable. In a 26-18 win at Chicago, Graham had 10 catches for 135 yards. The Bears couldn't keep him from getting the ball. According to the NFL, Graham's fourth straight 100-yard game tied the NFL record for a tight end, matching Tony Gonzalez's four straight in 2000.

With Rob Gronkowski still out, the gap between Graham and the next best tight end in the NFL is hilariously large. Brees and Payton might be the biggest reasons the Saints are 5-0, but the potentially historic season by Graham is also a major factor."

He's No.1 in receiving yards in the NFL, pending what foolio does on MNF.

He is a flat out stud. It's going to be interesting to see what both sides agree on.

Who exactly has walked because of Graham? Has not happened yet. Let's not start crying in our beer about next year just yet.

He keeps getting better every year. If he stays healthy, he will be expensive to keep next season.

As long as Payton and Brees are calling the shots, Graham will go down as one of the all time greats. Easily.

It's laughable to me every time I see guys whining about our cap situation next season and Graham's pay day. We have one of the best GMs in the game, and I have total faith that he will get it worked out just like he does every single offseason. The organization clearly is not panicking over next season's cap issues. Why should we? It doesn't make sense. If Loomis was worried about next season the "purge" would have already begun. To think that he did not see next season's difficulties coming years in advance and develope a plan for it is absolutely irresponsible. In Loomis We Trust. :-)

Best GM a team could ever have.

Grahams money has to come from somewhere..............just like Drews money had to come from somewhere. You can't pull it out of your a$$. It comes from the cap and that cap has limits. You can only rob Peter to pay Paul for so long before it catches up to you.

It's a good thing we do well with lower draft picks and UDFAs because we can't afford to keep pricey veterans.

In a game a couple of weeks ago the announcer quoted Jimmy Graham as saying he is 6ft6 270 lbs running a 4.49 40yd dash. In my opinion that would make him as athletic as Lebron. I know I see the world through black and gold goggles but as Graham is making a strong case for NFL MVP its a legit argument. WHO DAT!

:bang:

only here would a thread about the Greatness of Jimmy turn into a cry, b**** and moan session about the Saints salary cap next year. Loomis will figure it all out and as he's shown in the past, the fat he trims is trimmed for a reason
