We need a True No.1 receiver ...

Graham and Sproles. Occasionally Colston. That's all our offense is this year. A great defense like Seattle's heck even Tampa Bay's with Revis and Goldson can cause significant problems for us offensively and has.

I misread Brees , I thought his arm was losing juice turns out nobody's open ! The last time someone was open was Meach over the top which Brees placed beautifully.

The heavy utilization of Sproles in the pass game is a telling sign that nobody is open as Sproles the check down.

I'm not saying we need to do anything crazy as I am in love with stills but one has to ponder what Brees could do with a Fitzgerald , megaton or Julio Jones.

I think it's time we gave Brees a real threat.

Marquise Lee is the highest decorated receiver since AJ green and Julio Jones ... We both know how those turned out.

Jones was seen limping out of the x-ray room last night.. let him go..

We have a #1 WR, Jimmy Graham.

And well have to pay handsomely for that too ..

A great defense is going to cause problems for anyone no matter what. That is what makes them "great".

The heavy utilization of Sproles in the passing game is our running game.
I said this back in 2006-07 about the way Reggie was used, when people were complaining Reggie wasn't getting rushing yards; how Payton uses Sproles is no different in that regard. Back then, in debating Reggie, I came up with a couple of interesting numbers, such as half of the passes caught by Reggie were behind the line of scrimmage, 45% were caught within 5 yards of the LoS, and something ridiculous like 90% of Reggie's passing yards were after the catch.

As for a #1 WR, again, don't get too hung up on position labels with Payton either. I don't know what Brees could do with Fitzgerald, Jones, or Megatron. I do know that with Colston, Brees has thrown for more yards than anyone since coming to NO, got a SB ring, has passed for 5,000 yards 3 times, and broken numerous passing records. Frankly, I'd ask the question the other way around.

Yes, the Saints may have to pay handsomely for Jimmy... just like the Cardinals are paying handsomely for Fitzgerald, the Lions are paying handsomely for Megatron, and the Clowns are going to pay handsomely for Julio.

What do you think the cost of julio Jones would be coming off of his rookie contract?

How do you get Megatron with a 150M contract that doesn't end until 2020? Or a Fitzgerald with a 126M contract that doesn't end until 2019? Grahams contract will get no where near those two.

Everyone complains about Brees contract, but compared to those two he is 26-50 million cheaper and a hell of a lot more productive.

Thus far Jimmy Graham is out playing everyone you have listed or can list.

Plus, if you build your offense centered completely around a single "True #1" guy like Megatron, what happens when he goes down and is out of the lineup? Your offensive productivity goes from 40 points to 9 points in ONE WEEK.

I don't want the Saints to emulate what other teams do, or copy the way other GM's and coaches approach the game. I want the Saints and Payton to keep doing what they are doing, which is to be cutting edge, innovative, different and BETTER. Traditional #1, #2, #3 receiver is not our style. Even a guy like Jed Collins can get in on the action with Brees and the Saints, and there's no question from Sunday that it worked, and kept Chicago on their heels. Jed Collins!

I ws thinking this exact thing over the weekend. Our "rushing" is just in another form...screens and short throws. Who cares how we get it if we get it? All this clamoring for more pure rushing is annoying and aggrevating.

We're 5 - 0 I think they know what their doing. In Loomis and Payton I Trust.

A true #1 receiver in Payton's system still may not be a #1 due to all the weapons. And teams will most likely take that receiver away.

Colston is the leader in receptions for us.. Is that not the mark of a #1 receiver?
