Rumor: BENSON BOOTING HASLETT?

Guys, consider the source, but here goes....

Though we tend to take anonymous tips with a proverbial (or, as they say in Pittsburgh, perverbial) grain of salt unless/until we can get some corroboration, every once in a while we get a feeling that our chain isn't being yanked by a reader who is offering up some unsolicited info.

It also nudges us closer toward going with a tip that comes in over (or is it under?) the transom when, as a practical matter, the story likely will break before we can confirm it.

Haslett is also on WWL doing his radio program with his usual excuses so I think this rumor has been busted. I was listening to see if there would be breaking news during his radio program.

Rumor: BENSON BOOTING HASLETT?

Yes but they have a great tribute to Rodney Dangerfield on the site in their \"Dirty Dozen\"...

Considering the response we got from last week\'s resurrection of this feature (i.e., not many people told us that it sucked), we\'ve decided to keep rolling with the NFL\'s turdiest teams.

This week, it was easy to put the list together, since precisely twelve franchises have one win or less after four weeks of football. They deservedly comprise this week\'s Dirty Dozen.

And in honor of the late, great Rodney Dangerfield, who has provided the inspiration for a couple of our recent lame-ass attempts at humor, this week\'s edition of the Dirty Dozen will be presented in Dangerfield\'s classic self-deprecating style, in the faux words of a member of each of the twelve organizations.

12. Carolina Panthers.

Jake Delhomme: \"As it turns out, my last name\'s French for \'Guy from Louisiana Whose Career Goes to Sh-t After One Good Season.\'\"

11. Tennessee Titans.

Bud Adams: \"Is my hair real? Sure. And that bulge in my pants isn\'t because I accidentally took a Viagra instead of a vitamin.\"

10. Washington Redskins.

Joe Gibbs: \"The media thinks I\'m behind the times. So I sent them a telegram that said mind your own damn business.\"

9. Kansas City Chiefs.

Larry Johnson: \"Dick Vermeil said I should take off my diaper and play. I wish he would\'ve told me to put my pants back on; now I\'ve got cleat marks all over my d-ck.\"

8. Arizona Cardinals.

Bill Bidwill: \"I went to church the other day and asked the preacher to deliver us a Super Bowl. He said, \'Couldn\'t you ask for something a little easier, like world peace?\'\"

7. Cincinnati Bengals.

Mike Brown: \"I told my doctor that all these losses are keeping me from performing in the bedroom. He said, \'How does your partner feel about that?\' and I said, \'What partner?\'\"

6. Chicago Bears.

Lovie Smith: \"How does it feel to be 1-3? Not nearly as bad as it feels to answer to the name \'Lovie.\'\"

Rumor: BENSON BOOTING HASLETT?

We\'ll officially take no position as to whether or not we think Haslett will be fired now or at any point before the end of the season. But with Benson having a proven reputation for rash, impulsive decisions (see Randy Mueller) and with the team gradually declining since a stirring performance in Haslett\'s first season at the helm, we wouldn\'t be surprised to learn that Benson woke up this morning, took a dump, ate a grapefruit, and then decided it was time to make like Trump.
Now that\'s just funny.

Now that site is funny. It\'s a great read. It\'s like the onion of pro football.

Rumor: BENSON BOOTING HASLETT?

If enough fans talked about Haslett being sacked; we could create a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I think it\'s already started, just take a look around... nola.com, wwltv.com. If we start winning they\'ll call the fans fair weather, if he goes the fans will be revolutionaries.
