Loomis is is making sense...and saving his job?

"Ultimately, we all are judged by wins and losses," Loomis said. "If we can't work it out, then changes have to be made. And I'm not afraid to make them. That's my job, to bring the right players into our program and the right coaches to coach them."
Tough talk, can't tell if it means anything.

Benson was noticeably discouraged while leaving the Superdome on Sunday, and he did not appear any more content at the team facility Monday afternoon.
"He's upset, and I don't blame him," Loomis said. "I would be, too. The owner is not an issue here. We've got good players. We've got as good a facilities as anyone. There's a good environment here. We've got no excuses."
This is very true. I'm encouraged that Benson isn't just content to sell out the dome, but wants to win.

Loomis said he's heard the boos and catcalls from fans at home games and understands their disappointment.
"They're frustrated; we all are," Loomis said. "We keep talking about how we've got to correct the little things, and they're tired of hearing that. And, frankly, so am I. And coaches are tired of saying it. We all feel their pain."
Good to hear someone in the organization not blaming the fans for what's happening on the field.

Quote:

"I'm not absolving myself from any responsibility," Loomis said. "Everyone's responsible. We're all accountable. We've all got to do a better job. We have to do a better job evaluating players, and we have to do a better job acquiring players. Our coaches have to coach better, and our players have to play better."
I'm good with the first sentence. The rest of it sounds like a "we're working hard" excuse.

Quote:

"We're not ready to give up on the season," Loomis said. "We still believe we have good players, and we believe we have good coaches. We've got to get a big win this week against Minnesota and get back on the right track."
Sounds like spin from here. Culpepper and Moss in primetime sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Any thoughts?

I agree with what Loomis say but he should be the 1st one out the door. If he is to stay it shouldn\'t be as G.M but as Director Player Personnel

You know what - that\'s the first straight talk I\'ve heard from anyone in the organization in years. Glad to hear in Loomis. Your azz may be on the line too, but he\'s right.

I don\'t know if the owner is a non-issue, but did you noticecoaches weren\'t mentioned? I think Loomis stays, I think Venturi stays, but never as anything more than a LB coach (isn\'t that scary), and the rest are toast. Venturi deserves to get fired more than anyone except maybe Haslett, but he\'s Benson\'s buddy, so don\'t expect him to get laid off.

\" and frankly,so am I\" Loomis to duncan. The point of no return. He has sold Haslett down the river, which is probably where Has was going anyway, but inadvertently sold out his post simultaneously. What incoming coach would have any use for a bean counting snake like that? they are both leaving on the midnight train to ....

we never should have gotten rid of the last GM.... he made great leaps toward a good future and then we gave him the ax.....

Why shouldn\'t Loomis\'s job be in jeopardy? He\'s made some bonehead moves. Tebucky Jones, Jonathan Sullivan, letting Terrell Smith and Fontenot go. Bringing in an older, less talented Wayne Gandy. NOT bringing in a quality corner until now. I know it can\'t all be lamed on him, but doesn\'t that all usually go throught the GM?

I wonder if Jim Finks has a son who\'s looking for a job?....
