“I think first of all, just our record. It’s good to be 5-1. We’d love to be 6-0. We had that kind of slip through our fingers. (We) lost to a good team who made a great play at the end of the game. But we’re excited about being 5-1 as we get into this break.

“I also think this - I know our coaches and our players look at every week independent from what’s happened in prior weeks. We’ll approach our next game after the bye week just like we’re 0-0 and we’ll be looking to improve in all phases of the game. And yet, I think over the first six games, I think there’s been some real good things, offensively, defensively and with our special teams and yet there is room for improvement in each of those phases as well.”

Re: Loomie Says "It's Good To Be 5-1"

Who would have predicted the defense would outshine the offense. I thought it would take 6 games before the D even showed up but that's what I like about the NFL, you really never know from week to week.

One thing I like about Payton though when something is a problem he usually steps up and trys to fix it unlike a lot of other teams where you can see the problem but little to nothing is done until next season. The offense can get better, I think everyone sees that if more receivers get involved. I fully believe we will start seeing that next game.

Re: Loomie Says "It's Good To Be 5-1"

Before the season started, If somebody told me the Saints would be 5-1 at the bye, I don't think I would've believed it. Gotta give Ryan credit. The defense looks much better than I would've thought after 6 weeks.

0-6 vs 6-0

neither applies so 5-1 will work out just fine

Having Lance Moore back will help us greatly coming out of the bye. Looking forward to seeing sweet 16 out there again making those clutch chain moving receptions.

So with that said....DREW! FEED LANCE MOORE!

Re: Loomie Says "It's Good To Be 5-1"

Nothing against Lance, I really like Lance...

But we're not distributing the ball...

Look at Colston's et al targets outside of Graham, Sproles...

Look at the inability to deliver the ball deep accurately...

Look at when we finally get a running game, we abandoned it...

We need balance on offense and that starts with the calls and the QB...

They know this and will get it fixed...

Re: Loomie Says "It's Good To Be 5-1"

After a few times saying "Oh well" after the Patriots game, I thought "Hey, 5-1 is pretty damned good, and if that game had been here, we might have won. Add to that, Denver has to play KC twice, so who knows what is going to transpire there, and it's a long season.

Rarely do I think coaching was the problem, but for those last 6 plays, I think they really screwed up not going to their strength, a necessary pass play on second, or third down. But like Payton says, it's easy to second guess, and I know they were trying to avoid the pick-7 chance. Still, we needed that first down.

And if Graham was injured earlier in the game, with some non-descript leg injury, then take him out. We have a lot of receivers, and they all seem to be pretty good.
