Coverup of the "officiating"...

Even Roy Aikman and Foe Buck questioned that call...

Its only gonna get worse Chris. I've seen several threads about how the NFL is screwing players by either ignoring or spinning concussion data. Even hard core NFL fans are siding against the NFL.

I have no doubt the NFL will be out of business in 10 years, or drastically altered into something none of us will recognize.

No wonder players want higher salary's because of stuff like this. I'd also like to know where all the fine money goes.

This is BS...

NFL is getting out of control with the fines. I thought Suh's fine was uncalled for as well, and I can't stand that guy. Unfortunately I don't think it will change until Goodell is gone. Goodell is by far the most detrimental thing that has happen to the NFL; it's not even debatable.

I don't think they want higher salaries because of things like this. They want higher salaries because they think they can get higher salaries.

Lawyers and concussion lawsuits trump anything that moron Roger Goodell is doing, and its not even debatable.

Supposedly it goes to the retired player fund and other charities.
Ironic that the old players didn't get paid much for their hard hits that are now illegal, but are getting money for it now

Did Thompkins get fined for lowering his head and allowing Jenkins to hit his helmet?! This is pure bull ****.

After he dropped it he immediately began calling for the flag.
I don't have a problem with the flag, but call it consistently, or have the balls to pick up the flag if you are wrong.

Using their "concern for player safety" to pay for their lack of care about it previously. I think Goodell is just going to keep making rules that are "for player safety" so he can keep fining the players. He's all about revenue. (i.e. 18 game schedule, team in London)

Goodell leaving will not change the owners of the league. The owners (Goodell's boss's) are what is driving the direction of the league.

All the money goes to goodell's house where his servants are currently filling up his pool with it...

It seems that they already are. Now its only a matter of time before all players are required to wear knee braces. They may even make kickers and punters wear them too.

I say we just put those inflatable sumo suits on all the players. Or maybe eleven bubble boys on each side.

Soon they'll use computer simulation of each game to avoid injuries all together.

Thus adding to the cost of our already expensive Kickers :)

Those type of hits should be reviewable. Jenkins got fined to cover up the fact it was a bull**** flag. When a guy folds up it takes away the ability to hit the body. Only thing you can hit is legs or head, and since the head is illegal; go ahead and blow his knees out. Too many people are pretending target zones don't change from play to play. I'd just start taking out legs from now on.

So people can say "Look how dirty the Saints players hit" when we give a "cart-off" hit? People already say that crap and we hardly even hurt anybody.

What I see coming is more rules that you can't hit a defenseless player below the waste or something along those lines. They'll move the legal zone to above the hips, but below the head, no head-to-head, and the head can't move.

I agree, the owners will sell their souls and change the game drastically as along as the butts remain in the seats and they limit their legal liabilities. Even if the fans revolted and didn't go to games the rules will never revert back, so it's only going to go downhill.

NFL football is a multibillion dollar entertainment industry modeled around a sport.

Nothing more or less. Entertainment first, sport last.

I'd place Business first, then entertainment 2nd, then sport 3rd.

But your point's the same.

We are on the same page, the business model is based on entertainment value. Hardcore football heads are in the low minority and no matter how much the rules are changed the remaining 95% of the fans will keep the business going.

No, unfortunately all they can do is say "oops, my B. We messed up" like they did with the Failception. While they're at it, they could make a ruling on the damn hold. Just those two plays, just talk about those two at least and I'd be...well, not happy, but less seething.
