We can't get ahead of ourselves just yet

I originally saw SF or Atl, Sea, @Car as our biggest tests. But now there's more.......the jets could be a trap game. No wait it is a trap game. With the way Geno played yesterday and how the jets beat the pats the saints defense will need to play lights out this game. If we lose to the jets then we are forced to have to beat both the 49ers and falcons in a short time. Then we lose to Seattle and just like that we are 3 losses or 4. And likely we will split with Carolina and the home game against TB worries me and last time they played like crap we saw what happened week 16. So I don't want to say we can still go 10-6 but it can happen.

Losses I see
SF or Atl
@Sea
@Car

The trap games
@NYJ
TB

If we go 11-5 or 10-6 we may not even be the 2 seed. GB is likely only gonna lose three more games or less. Dallas is the one I see, but lions and bears should win but haven't proven that they could yet. Everything else is winnable. In a tiebreaker at 11-5 though we would beat them if we lose to jets. At 10-6, we will need Carolina to lose one of the Atlanta games or to the dolphins or jets. Or, we could end up a wild card. I can see Carolina going 5-1 in division. What is Atlanta gonna have to play for the last game at home? I doubt though the saints go 10-6, they are more than capable of beating the bucs if they are forced to at home last game. Its the jets game I am more worried about and the packers ending up 12-4 or 13-3.

Other than worrying in advance over 5 or 6 possible losses you're enjoying the season so far?

Re: We can't get ahead of ourselves just yet

Why worry about things you can not change?

I just sit back and enjoy the season... It's not my job to worry and prepare for the games, I'll leave that up to the team

Not worried, this is our year!

I am enjoying this 5-1 start myself. It does no good to worry about what I cannot control. I am just here for the ride. If you fret to much about the road ahead you are most likely going to miss the scenery along the way.

We have 10 games left. I guarantee that those 10 teams are a hell of a lot more worried about playing us than we are about playing them.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln how was the play?

We must respect our opponents, taking everyone serious, geaux about our business and Take Control of Our Destiny...

Good analysis; a bit on the pessimistic side, but you have the right. But like someone said here already, they're dreading to play us...in the Dome or otherwise.

I don't play and if I rise and fall the remaining Sundays of this season in a drunken stupor it will not effect one bloody game.

Feel free to be all serious and worrisome, I'm going to enjoy life.

Re: We can't get ahead of ourselves just yet

I am enjoying the season, sure its Saints football, but I am not ready to start the mindset that we are a given to get into the playoffs either. We have only beat one team this season that has a winning record at this point. The ones we did win with the exception of the Cardinals could have gone either way. We could just as easily be 1-5. We have the most brutal part of the season coming up and every win does count. If we lay an egg and drop one to the Jets or Bills we could be in trouble.

Hopefully we come out of the bye week like a bat out of hell

I posted something to this effect in another thread. 11 or 12 wins is gonna be an accomplishment given the way our schedule breaks down.

Against the Bills, Jets, and Cowboys; I expect to be sitting pretty at 8-1 before the hard part of the schedule begins...

Careful Mitch. 3 good teams when they decide to show up.

We have one tough schedule ahead agreed but we are ready. As one of the threads said one game at a time.

Who's "we"?

TheOak 10-23-2013 08:26 AM

Re: We can't get ahead of ourselves just yet

Pessimist - we have only beat 1 team of 6 that has a winning record.
Optimist - only 4 of our next 10 games are against teams with a winning record.

Pessimist - Our games were close we could be 1-5
Optimist - Out of the 4 teams we play in the rest of our schedule Dallas won 2 games by less than 5 points and the Jets won 2 games by less than 3 so they could easily have losing schedules. Therefore we only play two games against teams with winning schedules out of the next 10.

All of this BS panic about the Bills... Really? The Bills? The Bills are 3-4 and one dimensional, they have a running game.

Why is it we are giving the Bills credit for games they lost because they were close and they "could" have won, yet we take credit from the Saints for winning close games because we "could" have lost?

We won because we found way to win and the Bills lost because they couldn't. Finding a way to win is how a great team is defined.

I think its just an overly detailed way of saying on any given Sunday a team can beat you if you don't bring your A-game.

We'll be favored in 8 of our next 10 games for a reason.

Not so sure, but I see some adjustments coming on sides of the ball.

I have a feeling there has been some evaluation and adjustments made during the bye.

Don't know why, but have that wierd feeling SP & RR are ramping things up to throw out additional looks for a run to the post season.

Re: We can't get ahead of ourselves just yet

I'd have to agree with the general sentiment. It's good to be 5-1 now. Hey, the Bill's could be tough, as they're just off of beating Miami. I got to figure we'll probably win that one. Like you said, the Jet's just beat the Pat's, which we just lost to--still, I'd give us better than even chances to take that one.

But you are right, there isn't really any telling where we'll end up. I think we'll win at least 12, but hell, I'm hoping to win enough where we can relax in the last few games.

It's a fun exercise to go through each team. But with most of the teams with zero games (save Jax) even, being a threat, it's an exercise in futility to try to predict where we'll be, or where they will be.

I think the Saint's have it right, you just go out there and play one game at a time, and try to win. And from what I can see of their work ethic, and a few returning players that'll be salted into the mix in the future, things look pretty damned good.

Almost more than anything I hope we can DRUB the SF 49ers. I having gotten over them knocking out Pierre Thomas in the playoffs two years ago, and what I saw as generally abusive styles of play, double-chuck tackles where they hit them again, when they're on the ground even though the play is over. I just don't like Harbaugh teams, especially that one.

If we can only win two more games I would hope it would be against Atl and SF.

Also Carolina seems to be getting things together.

Exactly.

The Pats brought their B game and lost to the Jets.
The trap, I see with good teams, is playing down to the level of the team perceived to be weaker or lacking.

Playing the Jets give us a Marquee story. Brother vs. Brother, one brother perceived to be more successful because he is a Head Coach.

Bring your A game and consider this a dress rehearsal for that final game in February.
Same venue...make it so.

So, we play the Bills. If we play and prepare right we walk away with a win. If we screw around then we couyld easily lose.
