I\'ll tell you what - IMO if the Saints win their next three and make it to the halfway point at 5-3, Haslett gets a stay of execution. I think he\'s already proven that he deserves to be fired. That said, in season, no matter what I think is best for the Saints (in this case, losing is good b/c it ensures he\'ll be gone, and I think he is a big part of the problem), I simply can\'t bring myself to root against them. If Haslett can get them to 5-3 and in striking distance of the playoffs, he gets 8 more games to prove he can make them a contender. If not, get him out and start the coaching search now.

At this point in the college season there is no one that I\'m super excited about drafting. Eli isn\'t coming out this year, so I don\'t think we need to keep losing.

(But by the way is Roethlisberger really impressive for the Steelers as a rookie? I may have been wrong about the best QB prospect that went out last year.)

I would disagree, if we\'re going towards 8-8, I\'d rather go to 6-10 and make it that much harder for Benson to give Haslett another year. It seems to me like he\'s the problem with the Saints. I\'m ready to see him go.

The thing that cocnerns me the most is Haz\'s contract thru 2006. Will Benson be able to afford to keep paying him AND pay a new quality coach?

Or will he fire him due to fan pressure and get a crap-a$$ coach for cheap? Or does he simply keep Haz util 2006?

THIS, my friends depresses me. Hope there\'s a clause in Haz\'s contract that lets us out.

Maybe we can trade him away with a 1st round pick to the Titans to get Jeff Fisher? LOL :shrug:

wha dat i like ur post. i agree some ways. st.shrume as usual ( u may not have noticed) i again agree or u have opened my eyes to a real problem or posssible problem. i wouldnt mind seeing him go. but if we win the next three lets see what happens the rest of the year.
then to u st,shrume that is the biggest qwuestion. can benson get quality n still have to pay haslett three million a season. good question. i would say theres no doubt the organazation can afford it. the real question is will benson part with such money with nothing in return.
im not sure but i would say this. if they go 4-12 does he have a choice. not really.
then at the same time just like u said if he is left with no choice will he really go after someone worth anyhting or will he just take uncle ed off the couch. its all interesting n scary.
