Jimmy Graham has partially torn plantar fascia

1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham has a partially torn plantar fascia, according to Fox Sports.

The plantar fascia is the ligament that connects the bone heel to the toes, making it difficult to run without pain. He's still a long shot to play at this point, said the NFL network.

"He told me its a pain issue and is heading over to test it early. Felt better Friday but still a very painful issue. If he can play Saints will put him on pitch count," tweeted Jay Glazer.

Ouch! This is one of those injuries that can linger all season. Sad because Jimmy was on pace to have the best year any TE ever had.

I would not push it this week.
When we go 5 wide / spread Graham is just one option. With Moore back we will be fine

Ben Watson will fill in just fine, I've been impressed with Watson whenever brees targets him

Now NFLN says hes playing. I would sit him. Only he knows how his foot feels.

Did they just say tearing it all the way would relieve some of the pain.... How the ______ is that possible? This isn't a just this year type injury..... Antonio Gates has had this injury for years...

Did they mean less painful recovery after surgery? That happens a lot with partial tears and breaks (I've dealt with stress fractures for years).

Fox NFL Sunday just said the same thing. That its inevitable just a matter of time! Can't they just go in and get er done or repair it?!?

My impression was less painful once it is completely torn apart. It hurts to even type that!!

Rest until the San Fran and Seattle games. That is the season for the Saints.

Before the New England debacle, he wasn't just on pace to set the TE receiving record, but the overall receiving record. It figures that this would happen.

And we have a contract extension to get done?!?

Oh man, didn't want to think about the Chargers-Gates drama, that'll be a big distraction/risk?!?

He's been money in the red zone; but can you shell out that kind of money when he may not fully recover as Gates hasn't?!?

It's all a wait and see situation i'm afraid, the good news being in limited snaps with an injury, graham looked like he had no trouble or pain whilst he was running.

The announcers even said when he came onto the field in our own territory, he ran 40 yards down the field without any signs of a limp or discomfort

It took 2-3 years for me to get over an injury like that. Tried to "go through the pain" and wound up almost not able to walk.

Only thing that helped was a broken ankle... booted for 6 weeks and has never been a problem since.
