When you look at the score it doesnt look like a close game, but the refs were against us and kept it close until the 4th quarter

How was it a close game when it was 21-10 at half time?

Re: Sex and Won

Both teams played the 1st 1/2 with procto-vision but I wouldn't call it close.

Because it was 28-17 in the 3rd quarter and barring the kenny stills TD the bills were still very much in the game, and gashing us with their run game

Again I don't see it... 28-17 isn't close and we giving up a total 88 rushing yards isn't being gashed...

Re: Sex and Won

That was only the second time this season that Buffalo was held to under a hundred yards on the ground. I would hardly call that being gashed. Score should have been 41 - 17 if Harley could manage to hit those field goals. All in all, after starting slow, I was impressed with our team. Sean has yet to lose a game after the bye. WHO DAT !!!

A two score game with 1 and a half quarters left and the bills having success early in the 3rd quarter is a close game, one play can change everything

Our defense just made enough plays in the 4th to stop them gettiny any closer

I agree with this. I also think alot of us are still suffering from PTSD from last years defense. Its hard to accept that this years D is so good.

We aren't dominating in games like we did in 2009. Shaky in the first 1 - 1.5 quarters.

Its incredible what a new DC, new scheme and a couple new players can do

Our D is playing scary good at times, galette absolutely blasted Thad lewis

I also think David Hawthorne had his best game as a saint, he was all over the field

Hawthorne keeps doing that and he will have a pro bowl season. He keeps getting better and better. IDK WTF we are going to do with Vilma when he comes back.

"barring Stills TD"

That is like saying if Bree's didn't throw 5 TD we would have lost the game.

I do agree with you on this. Our O is getting the job done but to me in no way do they look like they have things going their way, and I feel that if wasn't for the D these games would be much closer than they are. I don't think they are playing bad but I think the O could be able to play much, much better, hopefully they get it all worked out and start gelling better.

Held to under 100 yrds rushing BUT also under 20 points & that's a first.

Re: Sex and Won

I dont see the "close game"... It was closest at the start.. 0-0.. We were not trailing at the end of any Qtr.

Lets see:
Score: 35 Saints - 17 Bills
TDs: Saints 5 - Bills 2
3rd eff Saints 46% Bills 38%
4th eff Saints 100% Bills 0%
ToP Saints 32:30 Bills 27:30
Turn Overs Saints -0 Bills -3

Held their running game to 62% of their average... Dont give me crap about Spiller being out Jackson has out preformed him all season. Their best RB played.

The Saints passed and ran as average as they have all season:
The bills on the other hand did not meet their ave points, ave rushing, beat their ave passing by 15 total yards.

How can you say baring a TD pass? It wasn't a fluke, no refs helped, is it because it was Stills a rookie? Well he had 2 TD receptions. Moore had 1 and Graham had 2... if you want to say "barring" something, how about barring those penalties called on Drew?

The only reason the game was as close as it was was Fartley missing 2 FGs. With out Fartley missing those FGs we drop a 40 burger.

This was probably the most balanced offensive game we have had yet.

The Bills are not a bad team, you need to look at who they have beat in their schedule this season so you can see that... They are just not "that" good.

Tell that to the patriots, 21-10 at halftime vs jets, turned into 24-21 in a matter of 50 seconds

Anything can happen in football, so I'd call an 11 point lead and the bills having success early in the 3rd quarter a relatively close game.
Also if you look at my original post, I'm not talking about end game stats, I said the game was close until the 4th quarter, That is when our offense really turned it on, our defense was superb all the way through

6-1, woohoo! Geaux Saints!

This was not the Patriots, Tom Brady, or Bill Bellichick....

"Any Given Sunday"... "anything can happen" is moot when the clock reads 00:00, and it didn't happen.

An 11 Point lead is a two score deficit... Not a TD and a FG either...

So what you are saying is never-mind the score, never-mind the lead, never mind the stats; as some point in the game you felt nervous?

As I said.. we were tied up at kick off to it was a nail biter then.

After 7 games...

Defense
Points per game - 4th best
Yards per game - 12th best

Offense
Points per game - 5th best
Yards per game - 6th best

Turn over differential - 3rd best

I think you might want to revisit the box scores from 2009.
The first 2 games were dominating but after that majority of the games were close until 4th qtr.
Bills were 10-7 until 4th
Jets 17-14 until 4th
Mia we were losing 24-34 until 4th
Atl was 28-21 until 4th
Stl was tied at half
Wash tied 17-17 at half after Meachem play and down 20-27 in the 4th
Atl second game was only 16-9 at half
So I don't know if I would say we dominated teams in 2009 we just outplayed them in the 4th qtr.

Re: Six and One

I agree. People remember the 09 team as dominating. They dominated against the Lions, Giants, Pats, Bucs and people remember that but the majority of games that season were fairly close until the end. On the whole the 2011 team may have been more impressive.

I am fairly certain this team isn't as good as either of those, but we are 6-1 with plenty of room to improve and there's no other team in the league right now where you can look at them and say they are significantly better.

What team were they watching in 2009? We were good but not 3 TD lead 40 burgers all day long good.

The Offense isn't as powerful this year but we are a better team because our defense is light years better.

If the offense starts coming around a little more I will agree with you. You know you're in pretty good shape when the team is 6-1 and hasn't really played a complete game yet.
