Drew's deep ball is back

Anybody else seeing this?

Most of last year and even times in 2011 his touch on longer passes seemed to be off. And early this season too.

But those two passes to Stills Sunday were right on the money. If this offense is about to add a deep passing game we are going to be having some fun down the stretch.

Better to start our peak in week 9 than week 2.

I actually thought the first TD to Stills was a split second late, but I think it looked that way because the LB in coverage was so slow. He later got torched on the Graham TD.

Brees definitely looked good, and the lack of drops seemed to give him more confidence to really zip it in there

the whole play was a construction in genius as far as the timing, I feel like stills could have been running in water and it still would have been a Td. It actually seemed like the double move route that he ran didn't even have to be there. Like he could have just run A 9 route without the double move and still scored. Might have been the angle they showed it at but there was no lb in any of the shots I saw until after stills got the ball.

Drew's deep ball has something in common with Colston.. here one week gone the next.

I never really saw a problem with it. He's always slightly under thrown his deep passes. I don't think this season has been much different than years past.

I think this Brees player may be a good QB for us soon.

receivers always stop and wait on drew

He is good at the back shoulder pass. The TD to Lance Moore was a frippen bullit that he fit into a window the size of a dime.

And that's a bit of a problem; other than Payton Manning or Aaron Rodgers (the latter could use personality disorder therapy), there's no quarterback I'd rather have...

But his arm strength has led to as many misses as completions deep when our guys have beaten their respective coverages...

I don't think Rex respects Drew much.

- On facing Brees: "Yikes! That's pretty much it. Dude's a surgeon, man. He picks you apart, can make all the throws, all the verticals and things, poised, sees the field, so accurate. Other than that he's not very good, extends plays. He's as good as it gets. I'm just happy Miami never got him, because we would have had to play him twice. Now, it's only once every four years."

I saw that on NFLnetwork and was quite shocked. Rarely do you hear good things said about our team.

I've never heard Rex bad mouth the Saints.
Matter of fact he once used us as a model team on how he'd like the Jets to be able to score and move the ball at will

I still think Drew underestimates Stills speed. Granted it was an LB but Stills waited on the ball while the LB was full speed and he couldn't catch him.

It has nothing to do with his arm strength.

All arms are weakening as a result of Global Warming

A lot of physics that goes into a 40 yard pass. Grip, trajectory, timing of both the pass and the runner... A light breeze while the ball is in air slows it down...

Or..

A- Overthrow - INCOMPLETE
B- Underthrow - INTERCEPTION
C- Slight underthrow - 90% chance my guy catches it.

Drew's typical miss is the underthrown deep ball. Any playoff game or crunch time interception has been due to a short-arm (see @SEA, @SF, @CHI). He's missed many this season short (and sometimes wide, too).

I don't think that Drew throws a great deep ball. He is good enough that 28 or more trams would jump at a chance to pick up his huge salary. As a Saint fan you should stop at the next church you pass and give thanks that he is your QB

This sounds like an SAT question...

You sure on that 90%? :)

We were #1 in Deep Ball completion percentage last year so I'm fine with it

And for the majority of Drew's entire career. Its because he rarely over-throws his wide open receivers.
