Brees' interceptions

Coming off a career high year for interceptions, I think Drew is doing his best job ever as far as that goes. He has figured out how to take a sack and only once have I seen him try to dump off the ball when he is going down which used to lead to an interception every god damned time. A lot of the ones he has thrown have been off of tipped balls or a direct result of a receiver not being able to hold onto the ball. He must have worked on it a lot this offseason. Guy never stops trying to improve.

Not wanting to deal with a pissed off head coach probably has something to do with it as well!

O lines performance isn't helping he has to hurry alot of passes also so a much higher risk of pics

Just a silly thought here but if we could run the ball better and our O-line did'nt look like they were getting prison raped by every D-line they face, Brees might not throw so many times and GET PICKED OFF!!!!

Re: Brees' interceptions

The Saints ran the ball well against the patricheats and for some reason abandoned the run.

I am not saying there aren't issues with our O-line, but if the Saints would run the ball more they become an almost unbeatable team.

Maybe half the time, how many of those little dump offs have gone to PT for gains?

Seriously, why act surprised?!

Drew himself even said he was trying to do way to much last year with all the suspensions and horrible defense...

Only Drew knows how much pressure he was under and everyone knew that he would get back to his old self with Sean back + a competent defense.

I was thinking the same thing last Sunday Dude, watching Brees throw two ints. Both were because of tipped balls. Then I realized that he hasn't thrown any of those cock-eyed shuttle pass interceptions this year.

Any dump offs to PT this year werent out of desperation as he was going down. They have just been either ****ty play calling or because he had no where to go. There is a difference between dumping it off in desperation on a dumb decision trying to avoid a sack and just trying to make a play where there is not one.
Im not saying dump offs in general are bad plays. They are awesome when they work and quite often do, but just dumping it off as you are going down is not smart and hasn't worked out well for Brees. I have only seen it once this year and it did result in a small gain.

Remember we lost Oline coach Kromer who is doing a great job in Chicago. they are running the ball well.

He wasn't at his best Sunday, but there is no question his receivers were at fault for an enormous part of the struggles. Nick Toon should not play a snap for a while after that game. A fire must be lit under him.

Re: Brees' interceptions

I have noticed that Drew has been much more careful with the ball and it is obviously a deliberate effort to avoid the picks.

It reminds me of the second half of the Vikings NFC Championship game, when things got really tight and Drew would often throw the ball away and end a series, rather than risk forcing an interception that would change the game and sink the ship. He looks more disciplined now out there, than he did last year.

He has been more careful passing but that shovel pass when he is going down makes my south side pucker.

Thats what I am talking about. He doesnt do that near as much. When you see him going down you can almost see him thinking about doing it then he tucks it and just goes down. Last year he got a ton of ints because of those shovel passes out of desperation.
