NFC help

Expect none. The Saints never get it. Call it a conspiracy, call it bad karma or whatever you like - help never comes.

Don't look for any help for the #1 seed (like the effort we're seeing out of the Clowns in the ATL today vs Seattle) or for any help in the division knocking off Carolina - outside maybe the Niners today, but we really don't want them winning, either.

The Saints have always had to be the masters of their own destiny to get where they wanted to be.

The only time I remember differently was 1990 and we still had to win that last game to get in (although Dallas helped by losing).

We want this thing, know that we are 4-0 where it counts (NFC) with 8 to go. Now lets just go win the next 8 and the road to the Superbowl goes through the Dome.

Re: NFC help

Atlanta is getting stomped as we speak *cracking up* But yeah, it would have also been nice for Seattle to drop one earlier in the season so we feel less pressured to win out. But this could also work in our favor: Let them play us after a 6 game winning stream and a bye week. They might be over confident.
The Panthers, I'm not at all worried about making even a vague attempt at challenging us for the division. They have not only San Fran today but New England and us twice. I actually wouldn't mind Car getting the 8th playoff seed, though. It's a team we know well and have beat often. So if they do pull an upset in the first round, let them come into the Dome and get trounced. Then they, like Atlanta last two years, can have something to point to when claiming they are headed in the right direction and don't need to make an significant changes and we can continue to own them.

Re: NFC help

I barely glance at even the possibility of getting any help. failclownsbucs are the same team. Done. Once the Panthers start facing quality teams I believe reality will finally sink in and that's that they are the best of the worse teams.

Re: NFC help

But one could say that the games are going pretty much as expected, so its not really bad Karma.

We control our own destiny and are nearly a lock for postseason, barring a monumental collapse.

Before the season started 99% of all Saints fans would have gladly accepted being 6-2 at this point.

Re: NFC help

SEA can keep winning against their cotton-candy schedule, and they will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Big freakin' deal. Keeps the pressure on us to win and take no games off, and increases focus. SEA won't be playing JAX, TB, HOU, ATL, STL (with Clemons, no less) or any of the other chumps they've beaten up on in the playoffs. And playing those teams are simply inflating their "God Almighty" Defensive numbers/ranks plus their O-line ain't that good much less impressive.

We've seen these teams that coast through the regular season, raking up wins against weak divisional opponents and even softer non-divisional/non-conference teams, then get exposed in the playoffs against a quality team. So let them have home field throughout; it makes the embarrassment of getting knocked out of the playoffs in front of their douchebag fan base even more hilarious.

I've seen a bunch of the Rams games this year; their D-line is no joke.

Fisher is a very good coach and that team is just a few players away from being serious contenders.

Right now they're roller coaster. The could beat any team in the league, and could probably lose to anyone as well.

Very, very true about being an up-and-down team, kinda like the NYJ. They'll be really dangerous if this was Austin's "I finally get it now" game, as that just makes their Special Teams even that much more of a pain in the butt. A good D-line, a decent running game, and good special teams play is pretty much a staple of Fisher-coached teams.

In other words, we ain't gonna just waltz in there and be given a "W" in December unless we catch them on a "down" week.

And if our players do think thats gonna be an easy win, we'll get our ass kicked.

Re: NFC help

Absolutely...they'll need to watch the game film against this week's Colts beat-down or Quinn's highlights. Not Brady Quinn's in case there was any confusion.

True...we have the head-to-head advantage against the Bears with DET going to 6-3. We just gotta keep winning games.

LOL...never heard that before...I'm stealing it.

That bush league "Superman" is tired already, and it doesn't help that he throws to Super Douche Smith.

Doesnt matter. Their D is exactly the type of D that will destroy our offensive line. He doesnt have to score much if Brees is constantly picking himself up off the ground.

Sorry, I forgot. We should be shopping Brees around for picks right now.

5-0 in the NFC now.

Next up - the most vile, evil franchise in all of sports.

Can we bank 30 points from last night?

I want to run the score up on SF!

But I'll take ANY win - keep the train rolling.

Yes that was a crucial game, bears can really only lose remaining at rams, cowboys. Not buying eagles or really the browns. And at home, they can beat GB.

Seattle will slip up, if it be playoffs or in the regular season, mark my words on that. 49ers will be less a threat this year as well.

Still no help with Seattle and Carolina.

Just going yo have to take care of business ourselves...

Re: NFC help

the bears win and lions loss works out nice

we have to win thats all there is to it. i do not see help coming from anywhere concerning the Seahawks and Panthers.

saints will need statement games against both

but for now we need to to win the south

first thing first we need a beat down on the birds. stay healthy

then we have 10 days and get ready for the run!

Re: NFC help

I'm convinced that not only will we not get much help, but I suspect that every meaningful NFC game remaining in 2013 is going to go exactly the opposite of how we hope.

We're just gonna have to win out and no worries.

I think we have a 1 game cushion. We can lose any one game down the stretch and still clinch the 2 seed.

Re: NFC help

Another Sunday and no help where it matters.

Wish I was in Vegas - I'd put heavy money on the Panthers to destroy the Bucs next week.

Oh well, makes all of our games that much more important. I don't think our guys will be looking ahead OR taking anyone for granted...

Re: NFC help

The NFC North blowing up helped a little from a wild-card standpoint. The WC teams will come from the south and west. We beat SF and Arizona, so we have 2-game cushions plus the tie-breaker there
