Eric Reid and Vernon Davis also suffered concussions this week.

Reid is out 2-4 weeks but no word on Vernon Davis yet.

49ers played a hard fought game against the Panthers, I suspected they would be dealing with injuries of their own. So that's it then, Kenny is out for at least a week. Jenkins should be good by now.

I would think both Jenkins and Harper have to be on the verge of coming back. Funny thing is I would almost rather see Bush and IAQ out there starting with one of Harper/Jenkins playing the big nickel role.

Amazing how the NFL is making new rules to stop concussions but there seems to be more this year than any I can remember. When you try and keep players from hitting high this is what you get, Knees blown out and knees to the head.

Or is it the same number of concussions as usual and the league is just making the concussion stand out because of new rules and attention to the matter?

Crap on a cracker. Though Bush and IAQ have done well, they will get exposed down the stretch. They are role players, and very good ones. But, man, do we need Jenkins, Harper and KV playing together moving forward.

Yeah, I think this is the case. Heck, there are probably fewer concussions these days - certainly fewer than the old days. The league simply identifies them now and doesn't threaten the players if they don't get back on the field.

It's a bummer, but I would much rather have Vaccaro be out for this round versus the 49ers and Seahawks, than to have him be out when we play either of them the next time around, if you get my drift.

Make no mistake-the NFL is making new rules primarily to cover their a**. They know they cant stop concussions. I agree though,it does seem like there is significantly more concussions this year. I know this is a long shot, but it makes me wonder if its staged in an attempt to revolt against the ridiculous rules that are being implemented. Hell, its already known that players fake injuries.

They used to call it "getting your bell rung". Players would come out for a few plays, maybe a quarter if they were really foggy and go back in. They didn't call it a concussion unless the player lost consciousness.

I guess we'll see how this week progresses ... with concussions if he passes a test he'll be able to play, so I'm not ruling him out just yet.

son of a honey bun...If harper plays I better not see him playing the deep safety. As long as he plays blitzing downs and underneath coverage he should be fine. I believe corey white can take over some of the nickel responsibilities along with carr.

We will need harper back for the run defense as long as he is there i dont think kenny is a big loss, 49ers have the worst passing game in the leauge ranked 32 so we will see alot of Gore

Hope Vaccaro is okay... thats two weeks in a row with head injuries for him. He needs to keep playing balls out though.

Jenkins and Harper should be back, and while I would rather have Vaccaro over both of them it will be nice to have some depth.

Starting safeties will be Jenkins and Bush with Harper coming in on nickle plays in the box. However, we might see the old duo of Jenkins and Haprer being the 49ers run so much.

I don't know how to handle that last comment...anyways, he's not officially out, he just thought he would be. And yes, Jenkins is participating in practice and I believe Harper is as well.

corey white sees more playing time yet again and man coverage is on order yet again. i can deal with it for now. Bush gets more playing time also. i can handle that also.

this is the perfect game for more White Bush experience.

Lb must keep the RB out of the third level!!!!!!!
