Saints sign cornerback Trevin Wade
 

Saints starting corner Jabari Greer went down with a knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers. Saints coach Sean Payton did not say yet if it was season ending, but deemed it "significant."

Wade was the Cleveland Browns' seventh-round draft pick out of Arizona in 2012. He spent 2012 with the Browns and was released in August.

"Really appreciate all the love from #WHODATNATION," Wade tweeted. "Ready to play my role and add to the team success. #LetsGetIt"

He played in 13 games last season with 17 tackles and one pass deflection.

Wade would likely back up Corey White, who is expected to start in Greer's place.

The Cleveland Browns waived CB Trevin Wade Wednesday afternoon, also reaching an injury settlement with the second-year cornerback in the process. The Browns also claimed OLB Eric Martin off waivers from the Saints.

wade was a apple in paytons eye at one time being a 7th rounder maybe would have signed him on at free agent back when if not drafted. there was a lot more experience out there than wade so he may be someone we hold on to.

hmm has special teams exp but small hands and small arms. Not to sure about this.. I rather see sweeting.

I wouldn't place much credence in that. Sweeting may be the NB now, or the dime back.

I do see that Sweeting is hurt though, but I don't know how severe

Thanks for posting. I'm not going to go overboard but there are a few things I like watching his highlights.

- He has good awareness
- He has above average breaking speed on the ball
- He has good technique playing the ball in the air. If he is able to play the slot like he played the outside I think he's a solid pickup.

His aggressiveness for the ball reminds me of Corey White.

A friend of mines a Browns fan as he says he is a good pick up.
A solid special team player and a good CB for depth

If only Robinson hadn't gone down early in the season he and White would be pushing each other real hard for that now vacant corner position.
Isn't it remarkable how bad Spags was as a d-coordinator? Ryan has this group in the top 5, I can't help but feel like he will be able to develop White and Robinson into 2 very good corners (regardless of who is the nickel and who is #2 alongside Lewis).

I think the Browns have a pretty good secondary overall, well coached.
