this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Speaking of Brooks hit, where is the Bounty investigation? Ray Lewis says he'll pay Brooks fine? If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..............

Where as the nicks hit was incidental on the helmet at best and only for a moment before he could wrap ryan up and bring him to the ground. The nfl network guys were acting like nicks bashed ryan over the head with a sledgehammer and then snatched out his soul mortal kombat style.
I think the only reason why the Brooks hit had a lot more force behind it is just that the Brooks hit had more force behind it. I don't think the amount of force you have behind a hit has anything to do with weather or not its illegal. You can hit a QB as hard as you can, as hard as a freight train as long as its in the area that is legal. Hell even Jim Henderson said it was an obvious flag that didn't get called. I don't think either were malicious. I think both were just scrutinized because of a ****ty rule thats in place.

BTW can a player get fined if a flag was not thrown?

Still, both should be flagged. It wasn't far more flagrant though, as Eisen claimed.
It wasn't more flagrant but it was more obvious.
