683 Yards (Penalties)

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; 683 is what penalties have cost us in negative yards. That does not account for gains lost because of penalties. I give certain players somewhat of a pass on their penalties because I would rather 15 yards for pass Interference ...

683 Yards (Penalties)

683 is what penalties have cost us in negative yards. That does not account for gains lost because of penalties.

I give certain players somewhat of a pass on their penalties because I would rather 15 yards for pass Interference than 7 points, and I rather 10 yards than a crippled QB.

Our biggest issue this season
Offensive Holding -220 yards

Most Pre-Snap penalties on the Saints
Jets -5

Most penalized player
Charles Brown - 79 yards (6 Holding - 3 illegal use of hands - 2 false start)

Team we had the most penalties against
Rams - 77

Team that committed the most penalties against us
Buccaneers - 118 yards

You can scroll and sort anything you like i am just hitting on the big ones.

Re: 683 Yards (Penalties)

I didnt do any comparisons but Grubs and Evans both have 45 yards a piece, DLP is sitting at 39.

So our offensive line is responsible for 208 of the 683 yards.

I'm guessing that is pretty proportionate to the rest of the league.

I am surprised in the era of 'pressures per down' and 'times targeted' that loss yardage is not calculated, or at least TD's'
Safe to say that the overwhelming number of penalties negated gains, or they would not have been accepted (Duh)

Is that all? Are you sure there's not a typo somewhere? Or are you trying to say Delay is only a one yard penalty?

We have the 9th least penalties.

In our top 3 O-Line penalties (Holding, Illegal use hands, and False start)

Offensive Holding is the #1 penalty in the league and we are not proportionate to the rest of the league.
KC and TB are #1 with 227 yards
NO #2 with 220 yards

Illegal use of hands
NO #1 49 yards

False Start is the only one we are in the bottom 1/3 of the league
NO-52 yards.

Charles Brown 17th most penalized player in the league yardage wise and #7 for number of penalties.

I meant the ratio of O-line penalties to overall penalties was probably porportionate
