We always think our tackles suck. Stinchcomb was called some pretty horrendous names. Everybody wanted him cut. J Brown sucked, Strief is a joke, Bushrod was a weak link, C Brown should be cut.

Meanwhile we rank in the top ten for fewest sacks given every single year since Payton has been here.

Maybe some of us don't know as much as we think we do.

Strief is a joke ? did not here it from me. i still say as a back up switch hitting tackle he is one of the best in the NFL. as a right tackle he is a solid starter. nothing flashy just an above average solid starter.same goes for Stinchcomb, J Brown.

that there is the problem. way to man solid but just above starters that were great backups are now starting. games are catching up with us.

I know that how long a quarterback hangs on to the ball and evasiveness has as much to do with the sack total as blocking...

Further, our success of pass protection is based on a secured pocket anchored by guards, sort of like a crenellation on a castle, unlike other teams who attempt to create larger pockets with high-priced tackles...

Brees, with his effective pocket evasiveness, can move into this smaller, secured pocket and deliver the ball to the receiver in a short rhythm passing game...

Still further, I'd argue that the long, calculated deep strikes were allowed because the tackles in those games were effective against inferior outside pass rushers and not so much against teams who were able to negate the long passing ability with effective four-man rush fronts (i.e. Jets, Seahawks and Rams)...

The only lineman I would say had any success since leaving the Saints is Jonathan Goodwin to the 49ers; Bushrod in Chicago has got to be thinking of his quarterbacks "Drew never hung on to the ball this long..."

The other linemen you mentioned have not had the success they had in New Orleans because of Brees' ability to get rid of the ball...
