Sean Payton's play calling

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think the playcalling sucked in this game, and in a few others in the 2nd half of the season. But I also think Sean Payton is a top 2 or 3 coach (and OC) in the NFL right now. ...

The last couple of games reminds me of what Bill Parcells said about him. He gets the fever.

I wouldn't trade him or Loomis for anyone right now, but sometimes I just wonder WTF was that?

And teams have picked up on his "feverish" ways.

And listen, I'm not smart enough to know what plays should have been called, just observant enough to see that too many of the calls are easily sniffed out and snuffed out.

So yes, Payton's play calling has been typical but less than desirable when it counts.

Yes, but we can't call for his resignation. That takes several seasons of bad play calling and lots of losing. This fan base is spoiled.

I agree -- I think I said as much recently -- that our play calling is predictable -- personnel packages telegraph the plays.

he's actually improved on that front. Running one play with Sproles in the backfield that is 90% of the time a pass to Sproles became a first down to colston (or someone).

I think he has a split personality. Sometimes when the camera is on him he has that funky look in his eyes and his chewing slows down. Then he calls some off the hook play that makes Brees sweat. Maybe he confuses his sessions with Dr. Drew and the Drew wearing number 9.

Do you think Carmichael is a better play caller?

We are talking about calling plays. Carmichael lead us to the 2nd ranked offense and a 7-9 record with the worst defense in the history of the league. Carmichael also called the plays in 2011; what do you remember about that year?

The question remains; eho is the better play caller?
