Sean Payton's play calling

Same play style that blew a FG against Carolina last night won the Saints a SB.

"Do something different"
It fails
"Why did we do something different"

When out of the box thinking works it's called brilliance; when it fails, a coaches integrity, heart, and intelligence are questioned. Nothing works all the time and some fans need to learn to take the bad with the good.

Trying not to be such a hypocrite has nothing to do with blind faith, but some need to recognize that the difference between a great coach and a bad coach is not always the outcome of a couple of risky plays.

Sean Payton is hands down the best coach this team has ever had and quite possibly will have for quite a while.

If you really do not like the QB and the coach, why are you a fan of that team? Colors? Mascot?

But calling 3 consecutive runs up the gut against 9 man fronts when we needed 1 first down

How about calling 2 consecutive screens when the first lost us 6 yards and carolina made it clear they knew all of our screen looks

He called that swing pass to pierre 4 times and we didnt gain positive yardage on any of them

I just think he needs to stop the committee approach and leave people in the game, we are way too predictable

Payton is a great coach... just not a very good offensive coordinator; at least not the best we have available.

Unbelievable.
Payton is great offensive play calling coach. There was no reason not to try to run down the clock with runs the way the defense had been handling their offense all day. Not that role out on third down probably wouldn't have been a better plan.
But the Panthers made the plays when they needed to to win the game and you have to give Scam props for that. Close games go either way and just happens this one didn't go ours, most do.

If the on-side had backfired, he would have been fried for that one too.

Do you expect a failed play right after the same play failed? Not many do.

Certainly no one would run a failed play twice so the line up must be a mask for something.

Some times you hide in the open brother. Last thing they are expecting.

I mostly agree with this sentiment but you gotta admit the safe play calling to not lose games hasn't been working as of late. When the game was close in Atlanta back in November we ran a play to try to get the first down. It worked and allowed us to run out most of the clock. We don't do that in new England and we lose. We don't do it in Carolina and we lose.

I just expect Payton to realize what isn't working and correct it like he did with our LT and kicker. Playing not to lose isn't working.

He is a great coach but when he blows it we can still put him on blast!

In other words its about God. I have been saying for a while now God plays a role in sports especially when it matters most. You don't win without God. Its who God deems fit out of the playoff games to deserve a ring the most. With how this season is going, it just might be Denver. But God does not control every winner in the playoffs just the special ones. The rest comes down to experience and knowledge.
