There are a few things you left out like constantly taking bad angles, piss poor tackling, constantly misjudging the ball in the air, having to try to chase people down after he has blown his assignment, and really does not cover that well at all. Jenkins and his stats says nothing of his field ability which he has very, very little. Being a 1st round #14 pick he was a bad pick, not quite a bust but real, real close!!

Jenkins and Harper are awful safeties...

Don't take my word for it though you can look at this tidbit if you'd like.

" S: Of 88 graded safeties, Roman Harper came in 87th and Malcom Jenkins came in 88th. No joke. Isa Abdul-Quddus came in a middle of the pack 40th. In coverage, Harper was dead last and Jenkins was 4th worst. Against the run, IAQ was 5th worst and Jenkins was 6th worst. Roman Harper gave up 46 receptions, no other safety gave up for than 41. Basically the play on the back end was possibly the worst ever"

PFF is widely accepted and a trusted source. They should both be gone next season regardless of dead money involved.

Vaccaro> Harper
Bush> Jenkins

It's not even close.

This game could be a make or break for him depending on how well he does against McCoy if it comes to him.

I'll go ahead and say that he absolutely was a bust. For being the #14 pick he didn't justify it one bit. A handful of nice plays in 5 years doesn't cut it.

Would rather see Vaccaro and Bush then Harper and Jenkins, I'm sick and tired of seeing horrible safeties play for the Saints

Cutting Harper frees up only 2.2 million, and you have to replace him.

So basically keeping Harper in 2014 is the equivalent of signing a 2 million safety on the team, which is basically glorified back-up money for a starting safety.

I doubt you can sign a better SS for 2 million than what we already have in Harper.

Harper's already restructured his contract and seems to remain a coach favorite. Vacarro is the future for Ryan's D and will cash in later.
Agree we won't find a cheaper option unless drafted, no?

We'll have to draft a safety regardless, and that's why I like Washington St Deonne Bucannon as a complement to Kenny Vaccaro...

That'll keep us from committing money to two bad contracts/defensive backs who can't perform their primary function - coverage...

When did Harper become a coach favorite? He's out there because Vaccaro is on IR
