Keenan Lewis

How valuable this guy is? He was able to shutdown DeShawn Jackson all night. I was worried after he left the game and for good reason. He is a very valuable piece in this D.

You're not kidding. His being out is how the Iggles even had a shot.

I remember someone(can't remember who) saying earlier in the season, that he wasn't a shutdown corner...

Re: Keenan Lewis

He may of been the best player on the field, offense or defense tonight. He allows our defense to do so much because he can lock down any WR by himself. The whole game changed once he went out. I said in the LIVE Chat when the Saints got the ball at the end that they had to score with no time left because our defense just isn't the same without him. An unbelievable player and unfortunately it took him getting injured for everyone to see just how good he is. Hope (and I think he will) he's back next week because we will need him.

*pats himself on the back* I asked the question earlier in the season, was this what it felt like to have a shutdown corner... I hate that it took him being injured to vindicate me.... This is the best free agent find since drew Brees....and based on the fact that not many people know of him he was snubbed from the pro bowl.....

Re: Keenan Lewis

we have to walk the the line because of a kissemar called goodel, we have to walk the chalk on concussions or head knocker that puts u out of a play or two for other teams and we have to sit the whole game because we are being strutinized by an a-hole commissioner. why san frans two top players out with concussions limits had all clearance on playing week after week after failed test. bite me goodel just eat turtds and choke . ur big injury rules.

Lewis looked bad in preseason and I though we signed the wrong guy. Since then my mouth has been shut. Lewis will be in the pro bowl next year (If it is still around)

Re: Keenan Lewis

We just found out how valuable he is. If we can get someone on the other side to take Greers place in the draft or FA we will be set. I dont think Greer plays another down of football.
I loved the guys work ethic too. he was genuinenly PISSED he couldnt go back in.

Should've been in this year. He may not get the stats like tackles or a bunch of interceptions, but the dude is lockdown. He keeps his WR from making a reception.

I wish there was a stat for that.

He went from being what I thought was a decent off season pick up to likely our best team addition save Rob Ryan. We need him back desperately. White and Sweeting won't cut it vs. Seattle.

It is an absolute travesty that Keenan Lewis is not in The Pro Bowl!! When he was on the field, DeSean Jackson might as well have been on the back of a Milk Carton because he was nowhere to be found. Who Dat!!

Re: Keenan Lewis

SportsCenter highlighted Lewis in the Saints/Eagles highlight and what Jackson did before and after the injury. Not often you see an injury get that much play in the highlight but it was a completely different game once Lewis went out. I honestly cannot remember the last time an injury to a CB had that big of an impact on the game. In my opinion, with the way the roster is right now, Lewis is the most important player on our defense.

We need to pick up another gem CB in FA to pair up with Lewis. I like C. White but he disappointed me tonight. He reminded me of P Rob in Spags D.

Watching the play of the secondary as a whole last night, that is what I thought also. Lewis is capable of shutting down a #1 reciever and a ball-hawking FS could take away a lot of other plays to #2 and #3 recievers, with V and Harper they can take running backs and TE's on for minimal gains and both are hard hitters and good tacklers, he!! V can play the slot when needed. We need that ball-hawk!!

Omg.... I agree with everything you just said. It is possible. Lol. Plus a Pass covering OLB away from being as special a defensive team as we have seen since the dome patrol.

I think your being extremely to hard on him. They took one deep shot against him, he didn't give up the TD. And actually should have gotten the long TD pass back because Jackson stepped out.

Had "cautious optimism" going into and during the game...

Did you see how passionately Lewis argued to geaux back into the game?!?

The man is a f***ing soldier!

Was in agony watching him plead his case and...

Hadn't been that !fired-up! in some time...

Hope we can meet the next challenge with same skill and passion...

while i agree with you i have to say they did not play that bad. white was made a fool of when he got pushed behind the wr.

Sweeting did what he could and kept the wr in front of him.

i think we got lucky and those two did not get burned for quick scores given the fact we could not get any pressure on the QB with our DL. dude could eat a sandwich and have a beer back there. coverage last night was excellent

starting in place of lewis? i can say i would not be happy with that one.

To me he's you can tell White is learning little techniques on the fly... but in no way has had enough time to be up to speed with a Jabari, or Keenan...

In the first pass where Jackson gets the 44 yrd catch... White used the sidelines as another defender like you would train a CB to do... Jackson even steps out of bounds to boot.... If the refs were watching the play that would, and should have been ruled incomplete...

In the second pass thrown his way, he was beaten although not badly, you can tell Jackson knew he wasn't gonna catch the ball. And he made a veteran Wide receiver move by turning back into white and forcing contact... He's been thrown into the fire a plenty this season... it's admirable what he's doing under the circumstances.

Re: Keenan Lewis

Why didn't they show replays of the feet oob? They put nearly every play up from multiple angles all night and there are 4 angles of cameras on every sideline. As it was an important play, why did it get ignored?

I agree, white is learning.. On that first pass, he actually has the receiver in the air and had he turned left instead of right, he could have thrown him OB.

hmmmm could it be if they showed it to much then payton throws flag an the refs an comm mr G have to decide can they pass standard smell test to put the shaft to the saints.I thought he was out me an my brother both voiced it at the same time.Just me but i think if one of the two on tv messed up an voiced his opinion which think he wished he had kept his trap shut i base this that it was almost like he instantly realized upps i messed up.After all without this play philly had no way most likely gets back in the game. But thats me i also believe more than one person shot JFK back in 63.:censored:

Re: Keenan Lewis

He did the job on desean, for sure. There's no doubt that he's the best corner we've had in a minute. But a true shutdown corner has to play like that more consistently, and I haven't seen where he's been dominant like that very often. I'm not knocking at all though, as I never expected him to be Aeneas Williams. He's very, very valuable.
