Seattle's Defense Relies On a Brazen Tactic: Rampant Interference

Quietly, the Seahawks have achieved a 13-3 record and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs by exploiting a loophole: NFL referees are reluctant to throw endless flags for pass interference and defensive holding, even if defenses deserve them.

"They look at it and say, 'We may get called for one but not 10,'" said Mike Pereira, a former NFL vice president of officiating who is now a Fox

Its gone on with many of the supposed top defenses this year to.

49ers, Seahawks is 2 right there. Patriots is another.

They are right, you get called for 1, but not 10.

As one commenter said, Seattle is doing nothing more than exposing the flaw within officiating in todays game, Seattle is really beginning to come across as blatant cheaters not only for this, but the PED's and the fact Pete Carol will cheat as he has done before at USC.

Half their team is on PED's and goodell has yet to do anything about it

I believe so to.

Richard Sherman was caught with it as well and some how won an appeal.

Refs don't want to make the call due to the screaming nasty fans!

nope, its because of instances like Bottle gate and the one years ago in Minnesota where a ref was hit by a bottle, that was back in the 70s.

Media has latched on to it. I suspect Roger will get it tightened up this weekend. It's blatantly ruining the game and goes beyond his vendetta with Payton and the Saints. I would not be surprised to see PI called early to set the tone for the rest of the playoffs. Like Sherman said, there is nothing special about what they do and I agree. Mugging receivers is fairly easy.

I wish I shared your optimism. I hope they call a fair game, but if they get away with it so should the Saints. I don't expect much to change, but I do expect one of them to piss Jimmy off. There's gonna be some after the play pushing and shoving in this one.

It is total BS that it is not called. If they hold and interfere on every pass play, then keep calling it until they quit and then you find out just how good their team is.

Give any team the right to maul your receivers without penalty and they will improve. Maybe Seattle is RG's handpicked SB winner this year...and they have been notified that the sky is the limit for them.
