We still Good

For all the holding Seattle gets away with it, we still put up over 300 years on them. The Defense just needs tweaks. The O-Line needs a new RT and C, we ready for next season.

Re: We still Good

I think the tweaks were made by the end of the season. Add Kenny V in there and I don't see how they could get much better except for some depth in case of injuries.

I totally agree with you on the O-Line. Drew needs time.

Re: We still Good

Here's what I think we need:

Job 1. Work on O-line pass and screen protection -- it really sucked MAJOR WIND this year
Job 2. Secondary needs depth
Job 3. Need to win the turnover diff. Need to work on sack, STRIP, FUMBLE RECOVERY AND INTERCEPTIONS. Hello. If RR can't coach this -- bring in somebody who can.
Job 4. WR corp dropped way too many passes, were not fast enough on their routes, and did not fight for the freakin' ball -- I'm talking to you J. Graham, R. Meachum and L. Moore ( although he played better late season ).
Job 5. Play-calling -- really needs some work -- it killed us in several games this season.
Job 6. Drew needs to stop throwing f***ing interceptions. Period. The end.

Paraplegic one hundred million dollar man needs to grow some legs to find his way out of a pocket when it start collapsing.

We are the only NFC team in the playoffs who does not have a scrambling QB, but gets paid the BIG BONES.

We have not been back to the NFCC Game since the magic season.

Drew didn't even throw a int if I remember the dude dropped it but all qbs throw into just needs to not throw as many and press the issue to much. Defense just needs to be faster IMO and wrs need to get separation.

I agree with all of you, esp. WHODATINCA.

And yes, it was a VERY good season no matter what the media talking heads say . They just have to fill airtime so they say BS and not facts.

I remember when Gregg Williams had the defense trying to strip the ball first, ex: Beastmode run in 2010 playoffs.

Everyone *****ed and said we needed to get someone in that teaches tackling first. We finally get a DC who worked on the fundamentals(tackling) and now we are *****ing to revert to a strip first defense? I'd rather less miss tackles over an occasional fumble any day...

I was going to say this exact comment but this is another thing, Rob Ryan took over the worse defense in the history of the NFL. They said we had no talent, that we lacked talent in all 3 phases of the D. We said that if he could get us anywhere near 15 to 20 it would be a huge success. Analysts said that if we ever produced a top 10 D we would be unstoppable. Rob Ryan brought us to #4. They mere mention of getting rid of him is preposterous, absurd and ridiculous. It is time to face the facts, the offense let us down. I think d coordinators have figured us out, like they figure everything else(wildcat, read option) it is time to add new wrinkles. I think SP is so confident that even though he knows they have figured some things out, that he still wants to prove he can beat them with it. We should have been pounding the ball all year, that kept us in it and kept Seattle on their heels. Add a wrinkle of a power run game and maybe all the other stuff works. But it seems like the days of just winging it and putting it all on Drew's shoulders are over. He regressed towards the end of the year.

winmill1 01-12-2014 04:06 PM

Re: We still Good

And I am not bashing Brees, I love him but the plays are predictable and if Graham is doubled we give up. And SP needs to look at how Carroll won that game. He didn't run it 3 times and just hope we didn't score, like we did in NE and Car he threw a bomb on 3rd and 3. That was balls, and that is what SP use to do. Unpredictable, confident risktaker. Now he is afraid to lose so he calls the game tentatively.

To be fair, the run game really didn't work until Armstead began starting and/or Ingram started getting more carries late. I'm going with Armstead though, the O-Line started playing tons better as he got more games in

Thanks, man. :-)

Just so I'm clear: I HAVE A CRUSH ON ROB RYAN -- OK HE IS FULLER FIGURED AND PROBABLY HAS BAD TABLE MANNERS -- BUT I DON'T CARE -- I LOVE HIM AND THE ONLY WAY I WANT HIM TO LEAVE NOLA IS IN A BOX.

CLEAR?

Let's be honest, did we really try to run the ball with Ingram and Robinson- our power runners. Did they get 30 carries together like the last two weeks. No Ingram would get 6 to 8 carries. He is a volume runner he chips away at the d until he breaks loose.

Re: We still Good

Strief finally was healthy and with the addition of Armstead we were able to get the running game going.

That's completely wrong. When he had good games he was good starting with his first carry. That theory is just a BS excuse people started using when he was running into either his own blockers or whoever the 1st defender he came to was.

He and Robinson started looking good when Armstead came in and Evans finally got healthy. Any of our RBs would have looked good running behind week 16 & 17 line vs week 6 or 7. I'm not diminishing what they did, just saying that when there was no blocking they all looked like crap.

Ingram started running like his ass was fire when it was all over the NFL that he was about to lose his frikkin job. Period. I'm glad he finally got that fire lit, and I hope he keeps it burning.

I will be very excited to see how Victor Butler does next season, provided that he can come back strong from the ACL injury.

Re: We still Good

Here's another coincidence,

Last year he started running well when Ivory started getting carries.

This year he started running well when Robinson started getting carries.

Re: We still Good

We really need to be handing the ball to Robinson or Ingram 30+ between them.
