Most important stat from NOvSEA?

There are a load of statistical anomalies from this game.

The Saints had more yards, more pays, more gains and more possession.

So what single stat tells the story for you?

For me, its this one:

Third Down Efficiency 3-12.

That's the game, right there. Seattle comparative 5-14 doesn't even matter. And when you add 4th down turnovers...

Thoughts?

Missed Field Goals were huge.

I thought exactly the same thing. The Saints could move the ball, they just couldn't piece drives together till the 4th quarter.

The other factors, to me, were turnover differential and penalties.

We were actually pretty lucky in the turnover dept. There was that pass to Graham that ended up right in the gut of Chamberlin (I think it was Chamberlin) he just dropped it. Drew was strip sacked, luckily recovered by the Saints, and on replay, it looked like nobody touched Khiry Robinson before he coughed it up.

I say 1 for 3 on fourth down dont help either.. Wish we would have taken that field goal instead of goin 4 it.. Would have maybe feel better bein down by 10

That about sums it up. If graham hits both feild goals,we're only two points down on that last drive. if colston runs out of bounds on that last play, we're in feild goal range for the win. Morstead's first punt was huge also.

Handful of mistakes doomed us and despite them all we were still very much in the game, thank the defense for that

Ingrams fumble at our 20 yard line
2 missed field goals
an 18 yard punt
Brees trying to throw picks at the end of the game to earl thomas and chancellor

The defense was lights out. Wilson had barely over 100 yards. Missed field goals, that fumble, the bad punt, and bad 4th down efficiency gave them good field position, if not for that lack of effort Lynch TD it was the best we have played defense since the 80's

Special teams as a whole sucked.

I'm glad you brought this up.

I was on my laptop right after Colston's duck hit the turf and was astounded by how we dominated the stat lines.

Turnovers and 3rd downs.... Two things we lamented going into the damn game.

Great Point, Exxcalibur; we pounded them with the rock, we just didn't hang a long, sustained, exhaustive drive on the 'hawks to take the fight out of 'em...
