Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

If Graham views himself as a $10ml a year receiver then I hope he finds somebody willing to give up 2 first round picks and they pay it.If you want $10ml a year I expect a player to catch in traffic and not tbe alligator arms to protect yourself, Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald are $10ml receivers.

I really like Graham but not $10ml a year, heck not even 8ml a year.I think he knows yhat and its a starting point for negotiations though probably.
His style of TE is becoming more common these days so could be replaced if the contracts is too high.

I'd offer six year deal total of 55mil with 20mil guaranteed...

Otherwise, tag with non-exclusive option and find two more weapons with the first round picks...

A lot of people moan about the games that Condon plays... What you are doing is essentially the same.

Essentially you are saying offer him 9.1M a year, if he doesn't take that then offer him 6.1M a year and let him shop the market so you can get 2 draft picks.

If another team offers him 8M/yr you let him walk.....!

I am struggling with the logic of wanting him enough to offer 9.1M.year, but not enough to Exclusive Franchise Tag him for 6.7M and be done with all the drama.

There's no way Graham signs for less than Gronkowski...

Big question in my mind is: Do you tie up that much money in a position that traditionally gets beaten up?!?

Don't see how an arbitrator can argue for Graham as a WR when his accolades are as a Tight End...

Best move may be to tag Graham with non-exclusive option; even in our worst nightmare he goes to Atlanta; that'll be some potent draft picks coming back to the Saints...

This is one of the better cat & mouse games in some time for the Saints...

Hmmmmm:

"If the use the non-exclusive version of the tag, that could happen quickly, if a team like the Falcons (which needs a successor to Tony Gonzalez) or the 49ers (which is drafting low this year and likely will be next year) or the Ravens (ditto) decides to pony up a pair of first-round picks for a chance to pilfer Graham from the Saints."

Saints, Graham almost certainly headed for franchise-tag fight | ProFootballTalk

Quick question.
Say the Patriots want him and only have one first rounder do we only get one this year and one next or do they have to have two picks this year

With two #1 being low you could cement the O and the D trading up stratigically for years. Just look how the Patriots do buisness, it amazes me every year!!

He's not worth 10 million as he is right now, but he still has growing to do. I am sure that Loomis will strike a good deal for our cap.

I'm betting he get's 10 million or more a year if he hits the open market.

Could you imagine him with Manning in Denver?!? Oohfah!

Or in New England with their game?!?

Going to Atlanta though would be cruel fate...

If they got two no. 1's, the Saints better make those count or Loomis will be on Take Out for years...
