DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I have my doubts that Shayne Graham will be with us next season. He did alright by us except for the Hawks game which wasn't totally his fault. The laces kick and kicking the 48 yarder into the gale wind. Another big position to be dealt with in the off-season. Do we cultivate a rookie or go back to the veteran pool or keep Graham.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I think we should keep Graham if he wants to stick around...

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

Keep him and bring a couple of UDFA or Vets in and let them battle it out.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I am not blaming Graham at all for the Seattle game, but his past history suggests he needs to be replaced. I would prefer that the Saints go the route of a veteran instead of a rookie.

For some reason I also have a strange feeling Hartley will be brought back to compete for the job...

This year like every year...

Everyone's job should be on the line. Show up, execute or we execute you.
So yes should be looking to upgrade any and all positions.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I would like to keep graham. I don't blame him for the laces in kick or missing a 48 yard kick into rain and wind. He's still better than hartley

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

Keep him around, he's better than Hartley and that miss wasn't completely his fault

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I like Graham, he's depndable. If you go with a rookie or unknown guy you will always have that doubt. With Graham you know exactly what you are getting.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

So are we searching for a third kicker now?

Derek Dimke was signed
Graham comes back
#3?

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

Line 'em up. Open tryouts. I'd go down there and take a shot at it. I've climbed the fence and kicked a couple through the goal posts behind Fortier on Nashville Avenue, back in the day.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I think he should be invited back for try outs, along with several other kickers.

May the best foot win.

How about garret hartley?

wait....

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

I sure hope so, would be nice to have some consistency. Graham did a good job to finish the season (both kicks in seattle were pushing his limits), but he was not a long term fix.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

Bring Graham back. We've already signed one kicker. Then we bring in an UDFA........I don't think we use a draft pick since we are short a 7th already.

Re: DOES THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR A NEW KICKER

Shayne Graham has played for practically EVERY team in the NFL at one time or another. That tells me that he wasn't good enough to stick around long-term with any team.

We need another place kicker... although not because of the Seattle game. Graham is just not consistent enough (neither is Hartley).

I don't know how consistant Carpenter is but the guy has a he!! of a leg. He kicked for the Dolphins also. Outside kicker.

I don't think Graham was brought in with the intent to make him our kicker going into next season. I just think they brought in who they could in a desperate situation and he was the only option they felt was out there. Graham is old and does not have the leg that he used to. They just wanted someone who could consistently make the chip shots for the rest of the season. We will have younger meat next year. I just hope its not in the draft.

Who is out there coming out of the college ranks that'd be worth a draft pick?

Danno, you're not allowed to answer this:-)

Plenty of free agent kickers out there.

What is the % of drafted kickers that make the team? I can only think of Morten Andersen.

Sorry dude, but Kickers and Punters are as different as night and day.

A Kicker is 10 times more important than a Punter.

I'd have ZERO problems with drafting a Kicker, absolutely ZERO.
