Drew Brees

Said he is open to restructuring his contract to help the team. This is what a leader does. Proud of him.

Re: Drew Brees

I wonder if he secretely added "as long as you spend it on O-line and WR's?"

That'd work.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees indicated he would be willing to restructure his contract in order to create some salary cap space. He said the team has not approached him about re-working his contract at this point.

He said the same thing Feb of 2013.... No one asked him.

Time to lay off the man, he floated it twice now and no one has taken him up on it.

Let's do it ... Let's actually go for broke this year ... Quit being so darn scared to pull the trigger on a big name ... Heck I'd give up a 2nd and next years 1st for Josh Gordan ... That is if he's going to be the next jerry rice ... Which in our system he could easily be

Re: Drew Brees

Cut Smith and Brees restructure would put us around cap after Grahams deal, right?

Canned answer.

Re: Drew Brees

Next year would be the most advantageous time for Drew to restructure. Everyone would benefit more next year.

WDSU (NBC New Orleans) announced during a commercial break a lead-in to the same story...Fox8 (Benson Station) has said anything yet (Watching Sleepy Hollow)...

Re: Drew Brees

He needs a #1 WR to throw to. I blame his lack of arm for not having the deep ball, but then I remember when we had Morgan you would see 50yd bombs regularly. It just seemed like none of our WRs or TEs could get any separation this year.

If he restructured and we cut Smith we would have 11 mil in cap room.

I put my trust in Loomis when it comes to the business side of the team. He has proven to be a master, I'll let him work and not worry about it

Re: Drew Brees

Brees now knows how much his big contract effected the team financially. He was reminded of it every time he picked himself up off the turf.
I think if it wasnt for the fact he was running for his life most of the season this may have been his best year yet. Its hard to find open recievers when someone is constantly in his face. A good run game would help him out as well and extend the few years he has left to play in the NFL.
He can either Work two more years with his current salary and probably get hurt enough foor him to have to retire or he can work 3,,4, or 5 more years with a little less.

I would if I were him.

Re: Drew Brees

He's a finalist for the Fedex Air Player of the Year. Probably of the Galaxy. And he had a billion yards this season. A few more INTs than normal and was harassed like he was a puddle of water and the defenders were dry noodles.

He doesn't owe the team any money.

People tend to forget that it balances out since he was underpaid the entire life of his first Saints contract.

Injustices should only be addressed when someone perceives they are on the receiving end. :/

I don't seem to remember another offer on the table, so the $10 million per year was a top of the market rate. Also, at $20 million, he's had less success. So I would argue that stats and no ring is less valuable than no stats and one ring. Therefore he had been grossly overpaid for the last 3 years.

It's just math. Ain't no thaing.

Memory.... Not fairing you well is it?
Perhaps you did partake in a little clockwork orange over seas.
Drew has only just finished the second year of his new contract, comeback in another year for 3 years. This is the first year under his new contract with a head coach for preseason.

10/year was a top of what market rate xan? Your telling me Saints paid prime value for a QB with a questionable shoulder that one teams physician just laid a nogo on?

If you want to hang a SB on value then Drew Brees is the only one we have ever have and all others were over paid.

If your not hanging a SB on "success" or "value" then what are you going off of?
